  • How many meters square of a house would this do? Does ceiling height make a difference.

    • you would think the height would make a difference but they are only provided an area in square meters. I guess it has based the calculation on standard room height of 2.4m.

go half way down this page and it will give you a general room dimension guide

  • Looks like the deal is back again as I've been receiving the email from LITB 2 days in a row.

    Lol…..you must be lucky

    • Perhaps I've just made the order recently? I have stopped all the newsletter previously. Lol

      • My spamming has stopped also :)

As a hayfever sufferer, the pollen levels are out of control in Australia. On hot and dry days it's like an invisible sandstorm and I have to close all my windows. These air purifiers combined with a thorough vacuum of the house keeps allergies at bay.

Do people still not understand that people wearing surgical masks when out and about are trying to keep others from falling sick?

      • nahh the ozzies will think ur a terrorist or u have aids.

  • What's the filter replacement interval on these?
I must weight that in as filters are quite expensive too.

    • +2

3-6 months, can buy from the same site for $60, so it's a bit expensive.

    • +5

Just vacuum the filters and reset the indicator. I'd imagine that the filters should last significantly longer in Australia due to our air being much cleaner. Been using my filter for probably close to two years.

      • It’s the third layer of activated carbon that you can’t reco with your vacuum. If you aren’t trying to filter out gases and smells though it’s less of a concern.

Hm, I wonder if this suffers from the same auto-mode quirk: https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-auto-mode-leaves-…

In the comments the author posted a way to combat it through the settings via this image: https://smartairfilters.com/en/wechatimg132/

I haven't got one yet, but the discussion on this in previous thread suggests the article is outdated and it can be set up https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/352240

There is 11 speed settings in the Mi Home app and if you use the top one (turbo) it will default to auto after three hours. It's quite loud. So you can set any of the other speed settings as your favourite and it will stick.

I don't have any measurement tools, however I get the feeling auto mode is good at ramping up when you cook or it's smokey but the low speed setting it defaults to under normal usage which is whisper quiet probably doesn't move too much air.

Another thing which I think people can't capture in reviews is how much fresh air purifiers push out and at what volume. It's pretty random to say one device at medium is louder than another if the other device can move the same amount of air at low which is quieter.

Edit-I just checked the lowest power setting which claims it's speed is good for 1-4sqm.

    • Amazing website. It proves there really are people into ANYTHING on the internet.

  • Does this product really gonna work for person who suffers with hayfever? Anyone tried and experience shared?

    Thanks

    • +1

Probably if you stay indoor and never leave your place until winter comes

    • Myself & my son have hayfever to dust and pollen and since having installed this unit, I noticed less sneezing in the morning. We only have 1 for around a week.

It reduces the odours from cooking as well.

      • Thanks for your sharing.

  • What are people's experiences like? I have one and the p2.5 sits between 10-40.
How do you tell if it is working? Auto mode always seems to be at 1%

    • +1

Try doing some cooking. Fry up a steak or anything on a frying pan and it'll skyrocket to 250 and come on full blast.

      • I have the gen one and mine gets down to 4-7 pm2.5. Reading up on it the goal is under 10 according to The World Health Organisation.

    • I wrote above, I believe auto mode isn't aggressive enough. It's good when it ramps up for cooking but way too slow to be effective at the low end, my guess is to demonstrate low noise levels. I have a Climate Air CLIAP30 which at low isn't too noisy but has the same volume as the Xiaomi in the middle of its speed settings.

Another indicator of it working is dust buildup on the filter.

  • What are these like for masking odors? Got a couple of indoor cats and one loves to poop on top of the litter and then walk away without burying. Also I wonder how the filters cop with lots of cat hair?

    Cheers

    • +1

I don't think it's great at removing odours, but possibly it removes odours faster than if I didn't have a purifier. That's my opinion based on the two purifiers I've used.

Cat hair won't do anything with purifiers, with luck though it should be filtering airborne dander.

  • Just keep in mind LTIB are very slow at processing.. they claim 2-4 days for processing but I've ordered on the 4th and it's still processing.

  • +1

Is this definitely V2? The LITB page shows V2 photos but the description doesn't mention it.

    • looks like V1 to me via the link.

      • Description says, " Original xiaomi smart mi air purifier mini second generation"

        Doesn't second gen mean 2?

    • +1

confirmed, it's second generation, will update title today later to make it clear.

  • Anyone know what the difference is to the international version?

  • So you can control your Air Purifier to kill your wife from your phone now?

  • Am i doing something wrong? I'm in South Australia and i can't seem to select free shipping for this item. When i'm on the payment page it slaps me with $76 for shipping.

    • do you mind give me a screenshot? so i can figure what's wrong.
please ensure use AU shipping address and go to checkout page, choose Expedited Postal

      • Thanks for the reply. Just tried again on my home computer and i can see the free delivery option now so all good. Ordered.

  • Showing as Grand Total:AUD $ 196.37 for me w. shipping to Au using expedited postal

    • Looks like price has gone up. 100 unit must have been sold then.

    • The deal is back again. "6 bought, 54 remaining for Lightning Sale"

  • +2

I mainly want this to reduce the amount of dust that sits on my surfaces in my room. like dust on bedhead, desk, tables etc. will this help with that?

Don't need it for allergy purposes although it would be nice as I have mild hay fever.

  • There is a Lighting Sale on currently. By applying the above coupon (CU1EUTDJAN), the price comes down by another $13.45 - so you end up only paying: AUD$153.13!!

    Bought one.

    • +1

Yeah I'm not sure why the OP didn't just put that price in the title, since he also provided the code.

      • +1

The original code is actually US $10 OFF (which is converted by LITB to AU $13.45). I bought the unit in US$ currency and my credit card charged me AU$145.30, which is cheaper than using the AU$ currency provided by LITB (AU$153.13).

And the price according to the website has been stated in the title. Price after code applied is in US$.

        • Why not put just the discounted US$113.84/AUD$145.30 price in the title like what everyone else would do? That's the deal after all, isn't it. AUD$145 is a lot more attractive than AUD$166.

        • Thanks dude I saved further $10 using usd

        • Why not state extra $10 saving by buying in USD in original post? I would have saved that extra $10 had i known that when i purchased.

        • +1

          @eug:

I'm not a regular deal poster. I'm just trying to share what I think it's a good deal that I've got in the previous expired deals. I'm not that expert to write everything in details though I tried my best.

The AU$145.30 that I got because I used Commbank Amex Diamond Card which removes the international transaction fee, but it is not applicable to everyone. If you have MasterCard 28 Degree, it might be cheaper? Who knows if you didn't try!

And the coupon is 1x used only. So, if you've ever used it to buy other item, the coupon code is not applicable.

Anyway, if you read carefully it's clear enough that there's coupon available to be used. It's your call whether to use it or not.

So, kind to tell us you actually bought one with or without coupon? Or you didn't buy at all? :)

        • @double_J:
          Dw, he ran away

        • @theoldbladerunner:
Cancel the order and buy with the coupon.

        • @double_J: I used the coupon and paid $157.15 (including $4 shipping insurance).

        • @double_J:

I'm not a regular deal poster. I'm just trying to share what I think it's a good deal that I've got in the previous expired deals.

Not sure why you're taking it the wrong way and being defensive, then going on the offensive. I was suggesting that you put the cheaper price in the title, because it'll make the deal look more attractive to people. You can still edit the deal now.

  • anyone know what plug it comes with?

    • +1

Chinese Plug (like Aussie Plug without the extra insulation on metal lugs.)

      • Thanks! can we plug Chinese plugs straight into Australian powerpoints, or do we need to get a converter?

        • +1

          Straight in.

        • +1

Yes you can but they are upside down

  • The thread may be too dead to get an answer now, but just in case…

I have read that the Xiaomi air quality monitor interfaces with this air purifier and can control it, giving much more accurate results than the unit's own sensor.

What I haven't been able to clarify is whether some sort of a hub is required, or if the two talk to each other fine without any other gear.

Please, does somebody have a definitive answer? Cheers.

  • This isn't a scam is it?
    Is lightinthebox trustworthy?

    • +1

Yes, you are always protected doing a PayPal transaction anyway for any of these "chinese style" outlets.
I have never had a problem this way and been doing transactions for 5 years.
Just read the PayPal instructions amd understand if you have a damage on arrival issue, you do need to photograph it as part of a claim.
Other advice for these sellers: buy a small items first to check them out.
