Rent a portable bathroom for reno?

were getting our bathroom renovated at our place soon and my girlfriend is freaking out at the thought of not having a bathroom for a while. we were just going to use my sister who lives a few houses down. but it will be super weird and we might not be on talking terms when the reno is complete.
there are a few companies around that do portable bathrooms like these

it might blow the budget but
has anyone ever rented one? how much was the rent daily?

Curious to know their pricing. Why cant they be upfront about it! Solid fallback option during reno time.

why dont you just contact them?

  • There's a reason why you have a garden.

  • This is ozbargain. Dig a poop hole in the backyard and sponge bath in the kitchen.

  • Why dont you try airbnb / hostel for short term? It might even be cheaper depending where you are

  • I have seen one in our neighbourhood when they renovated the house and was around a month atleast if not more. So dont think shud be very expensive.

  • I'm sure once you get a quote of those companies and see the price. You will be thinking, "my sisters bathroom is fine"

Don't waste your money if she is a few houses down.

Join local gym while reno is being done and use shower there and use onsite portaloo.

Otherwise buy a very cheap caravan and hook it up to water and power from the house and then sell it when done

  • Did you call the company and ask them for pricing? Seems a bit easier than asking internet strangers

Are you just losing your shower/bath or are you losing your toilet as well?

If you are losing your toilet then move out as soon as the reno starts. It is hard enough sharing a toilet with other people in the same house, let alone wandering up the road to use someone elses. When we did our bathroom reno we still had the original off the verandah toilet (old home) so we just joined a gym. We went in the morning before work - not only gave us a shower but kicked off our fitness regime. (Might as well exercise whilst there). In a pinch you can always blanket bath out of the kitchen/laundry sink for a couple of days if you don't want to go to the gym on any particular day. The other alternative is to look at showering at work. That is what we did when Longford blew up, we had gas hot water and work was electric.

Remember to "breath" during the Reno and try to keep perspective - there are going to be things that annoy you, just remember to support each other.

  • How long is the reno estimated to take? This will help with people providing options.
Can they do it in stages? ie. loo first
