The grains multiply. We regularly give our extra away.
All you need is a tablespoon of grains and for the milk kefir an airtight container (e.g. preserving jar) or for water kefir an unsealed jar (e.g. preserving jar without rubber seal).
I bought two packs of these recently; the veggie caps have an interesting (not bad) flavour compared to more mainstream ones. Much better value for money as long as they haven't all died (same possibility wherever you buy though!)
The OzBargain way is to make your own probiotics. Kefir grains multiply so people often give them away for free.
