  • Seems amazing if they don't price Jack

    • +1

almost certain they wont. GoPro dropped RRP from $799 to $599 recently. So $593 is really not much discount from the $599. If you can wait, I am sure $350 will be on the sight which is what happened to Hero5,Hero4 lolll

      • Yea I can wait a few months - till then teh GoPro4 will keep me going

    • I suspect they will price jack, all the ones they've sold so far have been at $736, so they will probably jack the price back up to around that, then -20% = $588… Time will tell..

      • +1

        I guess time told! :)

        • Yeh, I'm surprised.. Nice price!

Whilst this is a great price I would reconsider getting a Hero6. I had upgraded to one from my Hero5 and I can say that the Hero6 has some recording quality issues - even after the update which was meant to address the issues. It really seemed less quality than my Hero5 especially indoors. You can google/youtube the issues it's very widespread. In the end I sold it after a few weeks.

If you really need an action camera consider the other offerings like ones from Sony before buying the Hero6 and make sure you are aware of the common issues. Otherwise I think the 4k stablisation is really nice upgrade from the Hero5 except I would get skip frames recording indoors even using a Sandisk Extreme Pro.

Despite the durability factor, my Galaxy s8 shoots better video.

I can feel Gopro is dying.

    • +1

      who isnt

    • Heard something about that, Apparently they're laying off a chunk of their workforce, namely from the drone division.

      https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/08/gopro-confirms-layoffs-exi…

I guess DJI won the war.

      • +2

        The Drone Wars?

      • They shouldn't have gotten into that area. Just focused on making excellent action cameras.

The Karma wasn't a great drone.

        • Yep i remember when they released the Karma and everyone was raving about the first fold-able drone. Then DJI destroyed them with the mavic days later. The battery coming out of the drone mid-flight didn't help their cause either.

Problem with the action-camera market is being flooded by a lot of the cheaper brands like xiaomi and the likes which, while not as good, seem to be good enough for most.

        • +1

No they definitely should have gone into the market. They should have just done a better job.

        • +1

@omgitzrick: They ultimately failed to innovate, and that cost them. Big.

  • anyone used gitup G3 action cam that has a slave camera that does 1080p too ? I know it can't beat the GoPro6 but heaps better than GoPro5 I reckon

if you are seriously looking at getting a goppro do some research please

i was tempted to get one previously then i discovered the Xiaomi Yi 4k Action Cam.

the Yi4k has a superior sensor in it, plus the battery life is longer.

i've had mine just over a year now and NO problems whatsoever.

all your typical gopro accessories WILL fit the Yi4k cam. the batteries are rechargeable also, i've purchased 7 extra batteries off ebay.

i've been negged and had my neggged post removed for not putting up a link for a better deal

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Yi-4K-Sport-Action-Camera-…

local AU stock plus you get the extendable selfy blutooth stick also. i got one of these sticks and they're definitely sturdy.

so yeah no bargain on the gopro your days are over

EDIT so yeah because my last 3 neg deal have been removed i cant neg this one

    • +1

In your link, the xiaomi is being compared to the hero4, not the hero6. not sure how it stacks up against the hero6, but just thought id point that out.

I stopped being lazy and googled it.

To be fair, you can't vote negative for being a worse product. You can vote negative if you find a cheaper price for the same product.

    • Hero 6 has far superior stabilisation, better low light and of course has the brand which means you will get much better resale value
Xiaomi did have the higher bitrate and was better value until GoPro dropped their prices by $100USD last week

I'd rate the Yi 4k on par with the Hero 5 black, but considering the Hero5 can be had for $330 on sale, it really is a no brainer.

  • I’ve never bought a GoPro. Always thought each version lacked something.
This version seems to be just right though, and at this price seems ok.
But I recently read bad signs for GoPro ahead, and they may release a newer version that’s cheaper too.
    Unsure to buy.
    Any recommendations?

      https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/11/2/16596378/g…

According to the article at theverge: "GoPro has big plans for 2018. The Hero 6 Black put it in a position to return to a yearly cadence of major product releases. (It was two years from the release of the Hero 4 Black and Silver before GoPro announced the Hero 5 lineup.) And during yesterday’s call with investors to discuss the earnings report, CEO Nick Woodman started to tease what’s coming.

Woodman said that the current entry-level GoPro — the original Hero Session, which was announced in 2015 — won’t be around much longer, and that it will be replaced with a new entry-level GoPro next year.

“Demand for GoPro’s entry level Session was much higher than anticipated [this year], and will result in a sooner than expected end of life for this product,” Woodman said on the call, “but [this] identifies a significant opportunity for us to expand our market with a new entry level product slated for 2018.” This new camera will be one of “several new products planned” for GoPro, Woodman stated.

“In 2018 we’ve got a new product to address that entry level which we’re even more excited about than Session, because it’s an even better form factor for that price point,” chief operating officer CJ Prober added later.

Woodman and other GoPro executives have mentioned in recent months that the company is likely going to branch into new form factors next year, but this was as specific as they’ve been so far."

Had GoPro and Contour some years ago, biggest complain is battery and memory usage. Memory cards are cheaper now, but files also got larger.

The thought of post editing for hours on end just turns me off from getting another one.

    • +1

That second point is really where it's at. I've got hours of unedited, barely looked at footage. Then you have to learn how to colour grade, figure out where your starwipe transitions are. Just goes on and on!

    • Same here mate, I've got hours and hours of unedited video just waiting there for me. Probably never will :(

That's stopping me from getting another one.

  • do you get a tax invoice from VideoPro if you buy from their ebay store? I'm heading out of the country and want to take advantage of the TRS for another 10% off!

    • +1

      yes you will

  • Sold out or they took it down?

    Edit: broden bought 15

    • rofl maybe it is the competitor…who would buy 15 gopro anyway…

      • Maybe someone's making another 360 degree rig and hasn't heard about the Fusion. :)

  • BRODEN strikes!

  • Tried to buy immediately and it was sold out before I could complete Paypal ^_^

I think the time was 10:02 haha.

    • Yeah, 9:59 in stock, 10:00 out of stock. I tried :(

      • +1

They have added more stock fyi. Woooooo! :)

      • More stock added!

        • done

  • Back in stock boys!

  • I can't find it :(

  • In case anyone's wondering, according to DC Rainmaker, the biggest improvements over the Hero 5 are better low light performance and better dynamic range. Then there's the 4K60, 4K30 with IS, H.265 for 4K60 and 1080p240, 3-axis IS instead of 2 in Wide, and a much faster touch screen.

  • Price is $473.60 after using PCTECH 20% off discount. Cheaper than what the title of this deal says.

    • What about the compulsory $9.90 shipping?

      • True. Forgot that bit…

      • think it is $6.60 now…but who cares…
