  • on the first screen I didn't enter my mobile number, but on the second screen my mobile number automatically popped up in their box. im guessing they look up/share information from the Borders sign up/rewards deal???

    • Are you sure that your web browser didn't 'helpfully' remember your mobile number for you?

    • that happened with me for my address, and it wasn't my browser remembering either

  • Did the Borders one not work for you? I haven't checked in store, but I received a message in my borders account inbox about a $20 voucher.

    • I used my Borders $20 so did someone else I know.

      • Yeah, I've read that it has worked for a number of people, so I was surprised that the OP suggested that it might not work

    • I was waiting to sign up for the Border's voucher as by the comments in the Borders deal, it seemed they were still trying to iron out the wrinkles in their system. I'll clarify that in the description.

Booko often beats A&R's prices by more than $10

You could get some cards, or a magazine.

it says i still have to go instore to pick up the card to get the $10 voucher?

    • yep

    • It works the same as the Borders card, where you sign up online, then go into the store, & they scan the Loyalty card with the $credit on it, & you get your items with it . It's not a paper voucher, as such.

It seems to use the same backend system as Borders VIP program. I was shocked that they pre-filled my home address.

    • Are you sure your computer is not using AutoComplete to use previous entries on web pages? You can control what information the Internet Explorer AutoComplete feature stores, or turn off AutoComplete altogether. A similar feature can be enabled/disabled in Firefox.

      • i use chrome btw and i have disabled auto complete. I thought it was lastpass but then again i did not initiate a form fill there either. My only explanation is that it cross references email somehow. The reason for that is that you can earn points on the A & R card when you are at borders and vice versa.

    • Nice!

Good to see A&R making use of Borders (Australia) as their subsidiary.

  • They wont give you $10 if you are already sign up with Borders VIP, I was told at the A&R store just then.

The email account must link up between their system, that's why when sign up at A&R the address already pre-filled.

Just have to use new email for A&R which Borders dont have record of it.

  • Has anyone actually got the $10? I went into A&R, and the $10 did not show up.
    1. I have a card - collected myself from store.
    2. I registered it online. It confirmed my registration as successful via an email.
But the $10 did not show up at the store (when they scanned the card). Time between registration and store visit was about 3 days.

    • Same thing happened to me today but Ive used the same email address for Borders so Im guessing in my case thats why I didnt get the credit? The salesperson didnt seem to know much about it.

  • Persistence paid off. Here's what I did.
I printed out the email that they sent to me saying that $10 has been credited to my account.
I didn't want to know what their back-end computers do. Went out there, bought a book, paid
the balance. There was a lot of asking around, and I told them that if they have to call HQ
to get it sorted out - it was not my business. The email has been dated like a week ago.
They talked about a $10 discount or something via the register. And I walked out using the
$10. I will leave it to them to sort out how loyalty dept is going to pay the shop.
    I don't care.
They insisted they wanted to keep the email that I printed out; I said "go for it".
So people, print out a copy of that email and give it to them.

  • I printed out the email a few days ago but they said they were having trouble with loyalty cards and it might not be fixed for a couple of weeks. Glad it worked for you. (hopefully they'll have some sales soon)
