  • Link doesn’t work OP. Mind correcting it please?

    • Sorry, I think it should work now

      • Thanks working now

  • -2

If you want to know what you're paying for then Google "down plucking" and/or "merino mulesing."

    • it's "ethically" sourced, so the ducks don't feel pain from it

      • -1

No longer sure if this is ozbargain or the twilight zone.

      • Eh… Please do your research.

        • What do you mean? "Ethically" sourced means they are plucked when the animal is dead.

        • @ZubatRingo:

Or they could just give the ducks rohypnol before plucking.

    • +2

so if the cool kids still look down on 'ethically sourced' should we just tape plastic bags to our shirts instead for warmth?

      • -2

If you tell me what "ethically sourced down" actually means then I'll show you how to tape up them plastic bags real good. Deal?

        • +2

shouldn't it be the other way round? Please show us what is specifically wrong with this jacket/company/supplier and I'll consider making my 'gaia grey' self-reliant ethical clothes

          @payton:

I provided a suggestion for people to do their own research. That's all I did. Good bye.

have you been sharing drinks with cheepwun? starting to sound alike there

        • +1

If I had a plastic bag for every time you talked about plastic bags I'd be a plastic millionaire.

They look like useful practices that leads to humans being warm at the top of the food chain. Shit is great!

Far out what a bargain! This is a great puffer, I bought mine for $100 on a sale and wore it EVERYDAY whilst travelling Europe in Nov 2017 for a month. This was their "going into winter" time, with temps usually 12 degrees, and I was very comfortable. Combined with thermals and a longsleeve it also did well in Austria's negative 4 degrees too. I rate this jacket high for that price!

My wife has the women's and it also has a flattering taper in at the waist with more feminine lines than the men's jacket.

    • OK.. But afaik men's and women's puffer jackets shouldn't be considered interchangeable. You need the right one for the fit required to make it work as rated.

  • how to get $45? showing $149 in cart

    • You have to create/log into your account

      • got it, thanks, have to log out and log in again

    • Having the same issue after creating an account and logging in

  • $100 at BCF
    Still a bargain, bought.
Return policy makes no mention whether it can be returned if poor fit, so fingers crossed!

Do people normally buy downs jacket one size large?
Tight fitting downs jacket just looks …. odd

  • Picked up on last year. Great jacket for the $100 I paid. Really fashionable cut and very warm!

    • How is the size? True to fit, or smaller/bigger?

      • +2

The jacket has been posted before and the OP seemed to think it was a larger fit

        • Cheers. I am a fatass, 100kg and 6 ft tall. Most of my jackets are XL so I am not sure if the L of this jacket will fit me well. Looks like their policy doesn't include returning for sizing issues.

      • +3

I would stick with whatever size you normally get jackets in. For me, I like to go a size up so I can layer underneath. In this respect, this jacket was true to size.

        • That's my fear. As I've just mentioned in the above response to the OP, I am overweight and 6ft tall, so I am worried that the L that is in stock will fit me at all. I really wanted to buy with of these jackets for a while now, but I think I'll have to pass this one and keep an eye out for another deal with bigger sizes.

        • +1

@AussieDaddy: I would give it a miss too. That said,I believe the range goes up to XL. I got the blue in XL. Try you luck in store.

        • @jesho: Wait! Was the blue jacket also on sale? I thought it was just the black jacket and that was showing only L as the biggest size in stock when the deal was posted.

        • @AussieDaddy: Lots of Outrak items were on sale. You should've checked everything.

        • @adgnetworks: Damn! Next time, hopefully. :)

The website is getting hammered. Cannot even get to the checkout for the pat 8 minutes!

    • Same..

    • -4

Grr. I started the process at 11:20pm. Grabbed everything needed, enter the checkout process at 11:42pm and the entire checkout page has given up.

      • +1

The website is getting hammered because OP posted a good deal. You shouldn't downvote just because you couldn't complete checkout, I think you were a bit late. It is indeed a good deal.

      • Yes I have given up too. We spent the night looking through their sale. I have emailed them. See what their response is.

      • Getting a Cloudfront error between the CDN and their Database servers most likely. Struggling to pay

      • the site's checkout hasnt been working well for the past week. Been trying to get some camping gear through the checkout (after cashrewards link) and its always getting to the error page or a small popup asking us to refresh. Tried early mornings, arvos and late nights but still no luck. Tried safari, firefox and chrome, on mac, pc and ipad. Dont think its because of this post, but more their site's issue.

  • Size large is out of stock

  • I still managed to grab other bargains during the issues.

    I got Large:

Outrak Merino Long Sleeve Top - Mens / Black - $27
    OUTRAK Paramount Rain Jacket - Mens/Moroccan Blue - $60

I was after the goose down jacket but sold out.. oh well at least i made the most of it.

  • Its expired :(

  • Could I go in store and try to get it for $45?

  • Thanks OP - Grabbed a cheap Outrak rain jacket for me and the missus. :)

  • I see the OZB is at the most upper echelon of fashion.

  • Added to cart. Persisted through the errors and timeouts to get to checkout only to have a message sold out.

Then to insult and taunt me they sent an email saying I had left something in my cart which they are saving for me !!!

I log in and there it is. Suddenly back in stock ….. but now back to full price at $149.99

    ….bait advertising ….

    • I was able to place an order but the check out page said I didn't have anything in my cart. However just got confirmation order is ready to be picked up. Payments managed to get through at $45

  • Just got an email saying by the time the store received my order it had sold out and to contact them for a refund.
Theres 6 others CC'd into the email that i assume were as unlucky as i was. -_-

    • Should have used BCC instead of CC.

  • Got a call saying black is out of stock, will be blue instead, it looks good to me. This still has stock for $69 but most likely need to be delivered.

    http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/Product/Outrak-Plateau-650-Go…

  • Yeah I ordered a med and large but only received the medium, however I got a call today outlining why the large was not shipped. Ended up getting the blue in the large with courier express delivery at no cost and a full refund on my original shipping charges

Disappointed at not get the black but the blue will do as I'm more interested in it keeping me warm during the cold Tasmania winter

    • I didn't get offer of refunding delivery charge.

  • Got mine today in the post. Great quality.
