Will a Retailer Give End of Year Price Again?

My mate was overseas with defence at the time of Boxing day sales. Consequently he was keen on getting a new TV, but all the prices have jacked back up.

If he was to go down to Harvey Norman/Good Guys or someone, what are they chances they would do the deal for him again? EOFY sales are a while away and he is keen to use the money he saved.

    youre trolling right..?

  • EOFY will happen again in June.

  • Do you know what EOFY stands for?
If so you should know when the sale is.

I meant EOY. So the sales just passed. That typo makes me look really stupid.

        It wasn't just the typo.

Maybe if he goes in full uniform and pleads his case they might…but I doubt it.

Why don't you offer to buy it for him when you see a good deal and then he can refund you?

      Full uniform with gun

Were the EOY sales even that good?? Just get him to shop the eBay 20% deals at the moment, will likely be better than any HN or GG deal.

  • but all the prices have jacked back up

They didn't get jacked back up - they just returned to their normal price.

You can use their end of year price as a target for negotiations.

    • This is what I'm going to do. Try get the switch for $399 from JB. If I do try, will let everyone know how I go.

      • The switch is $459 at JB now.

Everything I've bought from JB in the past has been negotiable and based on the amounts I've been able to negotiate off, I think it'll be quite easy to get it down $399.

          Cheers for that intel.

Yeh, I figure all I can do is try, and if it works, than I'd love to share with OzB in hopes it can help some people get it easier.

Now it's just justifying the purchase.

          @tomsco:

I always joke with my mates that it's the customers who don't negotiate (and pay the shelf price) that subsidises the lower price that I end up paying! haha

This might sound crazy but have you considered asking the retailer??

  • Always room for negotiation with TV's; go talk to a salesman!

    • Agreed. Sometimes I feel the deals I get out of sale period are cheaper than during. Though it may be the significant drop from like 1500-1200 when during the sale it's down at 1300 so 1300-1200 doesn't seem that good.
