Monitor Recommendation - Bigger than 27", 4K, < $700

Currently have a 27" Crossover 1440p screen for gaming, which besides being a little small has done me very well, and a 24" Asus as a secondary screen. Birthday coming up so am looking at upgrading and using the 27" as the secondary.
Ideally would like a reasonable jump up from the 27" and 4k would be nice. $700 is the pretty strict budget.
Even Ultrawide would be an option. Will only be used for gaming if that helps any. Video card is a GTX 1080.

Had thought about even going to a TV instead, maybe 43" TCL or Hisense.

Any help, thoughts and or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

  • What's your graphics card?

    • Sorry should have mentioned its a GTX 1080. Edited that into the post.

      • The G-sync, 144hz, 27 inch, 1440p, IPS crowd all use the same AU optronics panel, so grab one of the specials you can find on Acer, AOC, Viewsonic or Asus.

I have a Dell monitor same as the above except TN, and a GTX1080. I get 120ish FPS on PUBG medium settings and around 80-100 FPS on Witcher 3 ultra. Not much use going to 4K where you might barely hit 60 in some games

        • If its not 32" or better I am not even going to look at it. In this case size matters :) And unfortunately G-sync at 30" or more is over $1k. 4k is more for future proofing as I will either get another 1080 or wait for whatever is next later in the year.

@Ravensbane: I've used 4K and 144hz and in my mind 144hz wins by a landslide.
I'd only every upgrade to 4K if it was 4K 144hz, going 4K 60hz is essentially a side step instead of future proofing.

        • @enceladus94: Few options at 32" for 144hz in my price range on ebay. 32" is a big enough jump from 27" that I would be happy with. Some of the AOC ones sound ok.

I bought this one early January - Crossover 34U100 100hz AMD FreeSync 3440x 1440 34" Curved Gaming Monitor - $595 with the 10% off. I should get it on Monday so will be able to comment on it then.

I did look at 4k monitors but for the real estate and price, I couldn't go pass this one. I am stepping up from a 8yo 1080 60Hz monitor.

    Cheers

    • Nice. Been very happy with my Crossover. Had it for about a year and never skipped a beat.
