  • can't swim with these. any deals that can?

      Deals can swim?

      • +5

sorry, please allow me to rephrase: Is there any deals on any Bluetooth headphones/earbuds with IPX7/8 water-resistant rating that can protect against water immersion for recreational activities such as swimming.

I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding and I wholeheartedly apologise to anyone who found my previous post offensive, inappropriate, or misleading.

        • -1

Um, no. Listening to music while swimming probably not a good idea, nor would it allow sound to be transmitted through your ear canal in good fidelity

        • +3

I don't think they will protect you from water immersion. I think you're asking for too much here.

        • I'm trying to figure out if the other replies are being deliberately obtuse. I don't think the OP here is asking for earphones to protect them from immersion, but that the earphones themselves are prevented from immersion ie the earphones are waterproof.
And I don't know why swimming with earphones is a bad idea, it helps with pacing and relieve the boredom, much the same as runners. So fidelity probably isn't a real issue, let's be honest, earphones in this price bracket are never going to be great sound quality.

There are some here, but a quick google didn't show any particular bargains

@dangerdanger: you know there are heaps of headphones used for swimming?

        • Isn’t there an issue with Bluetooth not transmitting through water? Although if the receiver could be connected to the back of the goggle strap it might work for freestyle

        • -1

          Do your own research.

    • +1

you can swim with them, just make sure you keep your head out of the water ;)

    • +1

I once had a swimming MP3 player that clipped onto goggles. Kind of like a rubber iPod shuffle

    • I had a fb targeted advert for the n1 on gizmodern. $76au for the bluetooth model and they are waterproof. not sure if the bluetooth adapter is though.

  • Great headphones.

  • How do these stack up with the QCY qc19?

  • +5

Got myself one a couple of months back. Not the best sounding headphones.

    • +6

What are you comparing them to? Because these crap all over every other set of Chinese Bluetooth earphones I’ve ever bought.

      • -2

How many sets have you bought? After the second I'd give up and buy a proper quality pair

        • +5

Four (these, 2 x Bluedio, 1 x something I can’t pronounce). Always have two pairs for the gym (in case one goes flat), leave one pair at work for when I use the work gym. One spare pair. They’re all perfectly fine for the gym and running, which is all I use them for. Quality is fine for this use, and having multiple pairs ready to go suits me better.

      • Yep.

    • Have to agree, they work well and feel good but on a bass level scale of 1-10 these are at -5

      • +1

Minus 5? They take bass away from you?
        Noise cancelling? Lol

    • +1

i guess its not $300 bose sound quality, good enough for me to use at the gym when i sweat like a pig

      • Bose are also not $300 in sound quality…

  • I seem to be able to apply the coupon but the price wouldn't change?

  • +1

Got the 52 for the same price last year. Battery life is decent but one thing to note is how there's no noise isolation if that's important.

    • +1

I have a pair of these and I struggled to use them on the bus due to external noise. Also I struggled to have the plugs sit deep enough in my ears. I no longer use them. I noticed that when I hold them in my ears, the sound is very impressive.

      • +1

the only solution on in-ear headphones is to buy foam tips for them. if you want ones to use on a bus, go with QC 35 if you can afford it

        • +1

does anyone know if the comply foam tips work on these? i agree about the foam tips blocking out noise

        • +3

No, they are a non-standard design, so comply tips don't work.

        • @diabolic: ok thanks

Best headphones for the price. Get yourselves two :)

  • How does this one compare in terms of sound quality to the one in this deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354679

  • I found these headphones sounded great, they fit well my ears they stay there pretty well, but they do need some time to “burn in” to reach their full sound quality - much better than AirPods for example. I use them at the gym and they’ve lasted really well, no problems at all.

Ep52 have even better sound quality, I have both.

    • what do you mean by burn in? ie just use it for a while and sound quality improves?

not a big fan of the ep52 due to the black band

      • Does the band give better battery but?

        • I find the ep52 gives better battery … the ep51 only gives me 3-5hrs… ep52 closer to 6hrs.

      • either use em as much as you can or get an audio file of "white noise" and play it on loop for a long time

      • Yes - use it and the sound gets better.

  • +1

It said coupon expired for me - does this work for anyone else?

  • +1

You got what you paid for, don't expect much more

  • how well do these fit. My ears get pretty sweaty and headphones tend to fall off easily for me

  • Urgh. Was busy checking out and deal expired while I was signing in to pay pal.

    • And they still processed the order at the higher price. Lodged a ticket with them.

  • +1

Have both Meizu EP51 and EP52. Big sound difference between the two. 51's are lacking bass and sound quality which I would say is average at best. 52's sound better, more bass and clearer soundstage. Both purchased from Gearbest and both lasted approx two weeks before dying on me. I have since purchased pair of Bluedio TE's from Bluedio Ebay store and in my opinion for a $25.00 pair of wireless headphones which I picked up for $17.00 (on sale) the sound is excellent and worth the money, plus a one year warranty from Aus ebay store. Gearbest will only refund $10.00 USD if headphones found to be faulty but you get to keep the faulty pair!

    • can you expound on the dying after 2 weeks part.

  • Both pair's had a blue led stay on when trying to turn off and then wouldn't turn on again. Check out YouTube heaps of posts of the same problem.

  • i have both these and ep52. no problems. ep52 is much bulkier, but longer lasting battery. these are better in terms of covertness and portability

  • +1

Any1 know where I can find decent replacement ear buds.. They come off so easily and I keep losing em

    • aliexpress. but generic. not original

  • I have a pait for about 3 months now. Love it. Solid battery performance, sound signature is slight v abit too much bass to my liking. All in all a bargain at that price.

  • Meizu vs qyc wireless earphones?
I'm looking for good sound and isolation. Don't mind if 25% more expensive.

    • I have both these and QCY QY19. I can't get a good seal with these, so they sound terrible. As the tips are non-standard, you can't replace them with Comply or similar. A lot of people seem to be happy with them though.

The QCYs take standard tips, and sound pretty good for the price.

      • So you mean qcy 19 doesn't have standard tips?

Nice alright, yeah both brands are cheap but it's nice to know what is little better

        • +1

No, the QCYs are fine. It's the Meizus that have non-standard tips.

  • These are great! Probably the most comfortable IEMs I have (compared with ~15 other pairs) but that's subjective as I've seen complaints in previous posts. Isolation is great on flights and sound quality is good enough. Plus, comes with a nice case.

  • God i'm a fool. I ordered these and then ordered the google pixel buds. guess which pair is a million times better? yeah not the $250 pair…

    • How r the pixel buds. Curious whether they r worth it

      • +1

not even close to worth it.

        there are countless reasons why

        Audio quality sucks,
        Fit/ comfort sucks
The cable catches on . shirts and is super awkward to manage
The only way to skip a track is to hold your ear, say skip and wait for an indeterminate amount of time
The assistant speed is no better than any other headphones with a call button.

the case needs you to put each bud buds in at an odd angle, rather than guide with the shape. so you always have to twist your wrist or the case itself .
the case wont close unless you wrap them perfectly .

but mostly. the audio quality and the comfort suck. they always feel loose.

  • +1

I have a pair of these and they do the job for $20. The sound quality obviously isn't top notch but it's not so bad that you don't want to use them. Battery life is good. They come with multiple sized buds. Sometimes the audio on mine cuts out momentarily, not sure what that's about, which does get annoying.

Would I buy them again? If there's nothing better than this at this price range, then I'd probably spend a little more to get something better quality that doesn't cut out.

  • +3

    I've had both the 51 and 52.
I much prefer the 51. They actually ended up being shelfed for awhile because I thought they sounded crap when I got them but I then thought to do a burn and wow the sound actually got better. I then went on the hunt to find new tips because the orginal tips just didnt agree with my ears. This hunt led me to find POYATU which helped with the sound and fit. Seriously recommend anyone who gets the the 51 to get these ear tips. Made a world of difference for me and a mate I convinced to get one as well.

    • sweet, might check out the tips when mine arrives.

  • What's the actual price of these in AUD?
