Shipping actually isn't free for this one sorry.

      Prices updated.

      • Kinda annoying when the URL is modified to the inflated AU rate though. No biggy as it's not my deal :P

    • How much are the replacement filters?
My Sharp air purifier's filters are $99.

      • $30-40 US depending on which filter. Best to shop around as sellers almost never offer free shipping on them.

        • How often do you have to replace the filters?

        • @scottishdave: Xiaomi recommend every 6 months in China but our air is considerably better. Could get 12 months or more. Giving the filter a vacuum after a few months with help prolong the life.

  • check here as well (might be cheaper incl postage)

Recent deals have been closer to $150-160 or so. This seems a bit high to me TBH.

I'd like to see how this fares versus my odourous dog. Put them next to each other and see who wins.

I was actually pretty keen on one of these.. then read this review:
    https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-auto-mode-leaves-…

The summary is.. these things are programmed to stop running at a high setting after 3 hours, and return to auto mode, which doesn't keep the air below the WHO (World Health Organisation) safe particle limit.
The built in particle counter also seems unreliable, which must be why they've just released a separate standalone counter.

The latest firmware can stay in high power for as long as you like.

The 2s, pro, and max versions have the upgraded laser ppm sensor.

      • are there website stating the firmware changelog by any chance, just curious. interested in getting, not that we need this in Australia but even for indoors i'll take fresh air lmao

Depends where you live. My house has air quality above WHO standards so I don't mind if this runs on auto mode just to remove dust and pollen. Save energy and less noise.

      • Thanks for this mate. I live in a pretty tight unit but it's Xiaomi and I keep buying Xiaomi stuff so it's bound to happen one way or another

I have mine running overnight when I sleep. Before I go to bed the PM2.5 level is often 30-40 and when I wake up ~10.

So it seems like it's making a difference. I'll see when flu season hits.

        • @Clear: suppose it makes good sense doesn't it. Just found this link here for current air quality which is handy: http://aqicn.org/city/perth/

        • @adrianhughes1998: Your air is pretty bad. My area gets <10 outside.

        • @Clear: if you live rural it ain't counted haha

        • @adrianhughes1998: Nah they probably stuck their detector in a rooftop greenhouse.

    • After reading this linked review it's made me want to do a bit more research before considering buying it. Meantime I'll stick to my Sharp air purifier.

  • That being said, I did have a car air purifier once and it didn't appear to make any difference to me. Guessing this Xiaomi works on a lot more air volume

  • Much more expensive then the previous deals. Not a great deal. But +1 for the effort.

  • I mean I get it for polluted China but do we really need this thing for Australia?

    • Yes and no. If you're living in the city it's good for pollution as air quality is often worse off - PM2.5 is often 60+ around Melbourne CBD. Also good if you have allergies as it'll suck up a lot of pollen and dust. One of the main reasons I have it is for the flu season - I work in the medical industry and get exposed to sick people frequently.

I work in the medical industry and get exposed to sick people frequently.

You're also exposed to a lot of sick people on ozbargain.

  • Are these good for removing smoke?

Also for closed room, like large walk in robes with no air movement? Ours gets stale and need to throw a fan in there to move it around!

    Thanks.

  • These guys will take a long time to ship check the Xiaomi A1 thread with a bunch of people left in the lurch after ordering from geekbuying. For heaven's sake @Clear stop pedaling the shoddy business here.

    • Shipping always takes ages, but I find they are usually dispatched within a day or two, and had the odd item need a reminder to be sent. Considering the price, I can't really complain about the odd hiccup.

      • +1

Shipping was advertised as 5-8 business days on the 6th of January.

Doesn't appear to be an odd hiccup, appears to be a lot of users experiencing the same thing.

    • I have always had good delivery times with geekbuying and wouldn't hesitate in buying from them, for a good deal.

I also appreciate that Clear takes the time to assist people in these forums, offering advice and posting deals from other retailers as well.
