Been getting ready for this since the free double cheeseburger on Saturday.

I like the new trend that is emerging here at Maccas (i.e. free double cheese-burger last week, no spend required). It seems that they have finally realised they need to mount some sort of comparable counter to HJs 'shake-n-win' app…

    Great! (and thanks OP)

    • +3

shake-n-win makes you look like a bit of a w*nker though, sometimes not worth it to save $2.

      • +1

Depends where you are I guess. Almost everywhere in the line at my local is doing the shake n win while they are waiting, and handing in their free survey cheeseburgers :D

        • +1

Last 5 Shake and wins have resulted in 5 free regular chips for me. I usually got free chips once every couple of weeks or so. Bizarre. I actually didn't bother with them yesterday as i'm getting sick of them now!

        • +6

I meant it in more of a literal sense due to the required motion lol

        • @dyl: LOL, Given that you've got 20 minutes to redeem I tend to find somewhere discreet (i.e. my desk at work) and do the wrist shuffle there. if the prize is good i take the short walk to claim it.

        • @Poolprouk:

I've got a sideways sort of motion down packed, just looks like I'm trying to calibrate compass on phone.

        • @Poolprouk:
Wish I scored free chips more often- usually end up with free coke or frozen coke which I don't bother redeeming :\

        • +1

@dyl: LOL where are you shaking it?!? It supposed to be a miracca not a s*x toy!! Or do a discreet shuffle at your side. Not the front lmao

        • @Craze: I normally just get deals like burger X for $Y which I don't bother redeeming :(

        • +2

@Poolprouk: This is anecdotal too but I've had way more free chips in the last few days than ever before.

        • @Craze:

Bloody hell! I LOVE the frozen drinks! I don't buy anything from HJ's, just in it for the drinks!

        • +1

Pennypinchers98 your not mistaken for HJ's are you

        • @steveclassy2: LMAO wow I can't breathe haha you get the comment of the year so far xD

  • Don't eat Apple pie while watching American Pie

    • +1

Why not? It's a movie about pies isn't it?

Maybe a good movie to watch on national pie day…

    • Because the shape of the macca's pie looks tempting?

    • just make sure you're protected then you're fine

      • Or let pie cool down first

        • +1

then it wont be "like a warm apple pie"…

  • Manager was fine with me grabbing 2 free cheeseburgers the other day via multiple order numbers at once, although it takes a few minutes extra if you're going drive thru to explain to the employee there is more than one order number and for them to call the manager for assistance

  • +1

the app takes forever to do anything..

    • +2

So it's like going in store then?

  • are the pies available before 10.30am?

  • -2

    Have an apple instead guys.

    • +3

Yes but apples are only free if you are a child shopping in Woolies never at maccas.

  • it's always stuck at 'Updating product information'.. what a stupid app.

    • My typical Maccas App experience - press on the app, loads and loads, finally it asks me to put in a location so I do then it goes on the breakfast menu "Updating product information" and then when I try to tab over "sorry, mymaccas has stopped". * sigh * boot it up again - sorry we couldn't sign you in. Select your restaurant * GRRRRR * Select my restaurant again and after more "updating product information" it might finally let me tab over, or it will say if I want to get an offer - sign in. I try to sign in, "sorry please try again later" (or some bs like that) and if it works then I finally get to the checkout and it wants me to put my card details in such a terrible and insecure app???

Nowadays, I just say "the app's not loading/working for me, but I heard you have a free apple pie today - could I add one to my order" and so far, it's been fine.

  • Anybody know if this works at Tullamarine airport.
I know for a fact that vouchers and coupons never work at hungry jacks airport

    • Your facts are wrong. I work at the airport and regularly use my Hungry Jacks vouchers as posted on Ozbargain to get a cheap lunch when I am unable to bring my own. I do shake and wins every day also and have never been refused a prize.

I will give this a go at Maccas today and report back.

      • Well I've had 3 printed vouchers for hj been rejected. Not sure about app
        They virtually laughed at it

        • Maybe they just didn't like you…..lol

Multiple colleagues of mine and I have never had a problem.

        • @Poolprouk:

          Yeah maybe.

I won't be preying to the hj gods tonight

In fact I will try hj airport again today

        • @hellohello123: I usually go to the one in between Terminal 1 and 2 next to Subway. Try there.

        • @Poolprouk:

I'm in Vic. Which airport are you referring to

I only recall seeing one of each :(

        • you don't even need vouchers at my local hj's. All you need to do is mention the correct price and burger combo on a current voucher and they're ok with that. I still print them out, but have had a few times when the guy serving says, "nah, don't worry about the voucher" and gives it back.

        • @aedeau:
For drive through I'm the same most of the time they don't care and know which one you are talking about.

        • +1

@hellohello123: Melbourne Tullamarine, there are actually 3 Hungry Jacks, the one i've mentioned, the one in the Terminal 1 foodcourt (Qantas) and one in the international terminal. (after security and duty free).

2 Maccas, 1 in between T2 and t3 and another in the T4 food court.

        • @Poolprouk:
Damn you know your fast food!
I think I've only been tot he international one.. The one near the ramp

And after check in I think

        • +2

@hellohello123: Perhaps the fact that it was in the international terminal and past customs that caused an issue with the acceptance of vouchers.

So let me get this straight though, you were planning on paying a visit to HJ at the airport later today and at that point in time, you only knew of the existence of the HJ in the international terminal, which is past security, which requires a boarding card (which one obtains having bought an airline ticket).

That is one expensive way to test if HJ vouchers work at that HJ's outlet.

          ROFLOL.

        • @Poolprouk:

I wouldn't be on ozbargain if I was willing to do that:)

Just going to nz for 3 days for a quick catch up with friends.

So I recall being rejected for vouchers in the past which made me cry :)

Paying $12 for a medium meal when you have the vouchers is a traumatising experience

        • @hellohello123: I hope you're flying Jetstar then… Suggest getting your HJ's before you go through security in between T1 and t2.

Also, I just enjoyed a nice apple pie from the T2/T3 Maccas. This deal works there too.

I'm sure they serve the apple pies a little cooler these days, always recall them being hotter than the surface of the sun when you first bit into them when I was a kid.

        • @Poolprouk:

          As above.
"Always blow on the pie. Safer communities together"

    • +1

Enter the code the app gives you into one of the order kiosk screens and it should work.

    • I don't see why it won't work?

  • -1

Not working. Lication set to 406 Bourke st branch still showing $2.50

    • You need sign up/log in to mymacca's then on the home page of the app at the bottom you should see the reward for the free apple pie, might take 10 minutes to appear after signing up

      • Hi
I'm using Android, after sign out n sign in again, the mobile app home page only showing two options: pickup order and store location.

When I click in receive offer on the bottom… It keep loading , waited 10min nothing came out

        • Might have to reinstall the app, otherwise I'm not sure why it's not appearing for you

        • OK finally if show up.

          Thanks mate

  • +1

I bet that if I used this at my local maccas, I’d be given an empty bag.

The amount of apple pies I’ve bought and not received 😡

  • Forgot to bring brekkie after riding into work so this makes for a pretty decent substitute. Thanks!

  • +2

Wonder when it's going to be national Large Double Quarter Pounder meal day?

  • Eating mine now!

  • +2

The MyMaccas app is quite lousy. Always stuck at Updating Product Information.

    • I found that I had to let it do that, then close the app and try again for it to work.

      • Same. I got angry, force closed and then restarted the app. Then it worked.

  • 322 calories.

    • No way… I thought there is no way it could be over 250. And to think I used to literally get it every time when it was $1 each….

      • Don't stress, it's actually 232

        • Apologies, that was per 100 grams.

  • +1

Eating my free apple pie now.
Collected from drive thru, no drama.

  • just for new users (or lovers of pies). You don't need to enter phone number, you can enter any email you want as you don't need to check it, you can be creative with names as well.

You will need to wait around 3-5 minutes after registration to get the voucher.

I had two (to be fair, for two people) - manager just took 4 letter/number codes, they didn't care about names, apps or even scanning bar codes.

  • This plus soft serve = date night dessert sorted.

  • Got 2 pies between my partner and I. Thanks!!
