Flew China southern last week to Bangkok via the Chinese city that starts with G(?!) anyway great experience, was every bit as good as my qantas international flights and was half the price. Getting connecting flight in China was no trouble at all. All gates in English and (chronologically) ordered. Lots of people in stores and stuff speak English, and I flew in fairly late and still lots of help if/where needed.
