How Many of You Here Have Invested in Crypto? What coins?

So how many of OZBargainers have invested into Crypto and what are the coins they are holding? Furthermore, how much have you invested?

Edit: So I posted a comment for free $500 earlier but very few took an interest, so here is a proof of it: The exchange I was talking about was UPcoin, the $500 bonus deal is expired (you can see it on their homepage https://upcoin.com/ about $500). Here is a SC of me $500 bonus on my account. You can still join my discord group for the top and exclusive airdrops (I posted RiPT in my group which is now worth $75+) and now I have just posted another airdrop (free token) that is worth $40.

Guys it’s over bubble has burst

    • I wouldnt say that. I started at the last major peak at $1400 per bitcoin in 2014. I saw bitcoin drop to as low as $100, and stuck it through to now. It goes through phases.

    • and what brings you to that conclusion? the herald sun?

  • Currently ETH, XLM, ICX, WTC, IOST in that order.

I literally put $500’000 in Decentraland

    • Decentraland is vapourware scam

Start investing in Stress medication pharmaceutical companies.

When crypto currencies crash the share price will increase.

    • You mean pot stocks like MXC (MGC Pharmaceuticals)?

  • Cappasity coin - CAPP - currently on Cryptopia and DEW with few more exchanges to be announced next week. A great coin backed with a working business model. Its into AR / VR. Recently did a deal with LVMH (Louis Vitton Group) and their coin has also got the utility - you can use the coin to make transaction at their portal to use the AR / VR technology. Amazing coin with amazing future.
Disclaimer - I have around $1000 invested into CAPP tokens as of now. Going to add some more.

  • Current portfolio is just above $100k - a very large chunk of that is XRB.

    RaiBlocks is life.

    • What are your thoughts on the rebrand rumours?

      • I think we will see a lot of movement on all fronts VERY soon.
        Rebrand, Binance, Mobile Wallets….

All you have to do is use XRB just once to feel how disruptive this is going to be.

Nebulas (NAS) is the coin to watch in 2018. I'm also in NEO, TNC and GVT.

  • Vechain, thank me later.

  • Who in with TRON?

    • +1

I have some TRON bought few weeks back. it's been in 6 cents region for a long time now! :/

  • Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash and Dogecoin(for giggles).

  • Its all going to come crashing down. Tether is about to explode and when that happens people will wake up to the fact these ICOs literally are nothing more than cash grabs. The fact you have a coin injecting fake money into the market is just crazy.

Even a coin called ponzicoin made hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Absolute mania ICO's are.Dogecoin a joke coin with zero application or developement is worth 2 billion apparantly. Lol

So yeah dont invest what you cant afford to lose.

0x Project - decentralized exchange protocol and so much more. This is one of those tokens you buy and hold. Thank me by the end of 2018

    • Decentralised exchanges at the moment don't have the reputation, security nor transaction speed to handle the required trade volumes. And if/when they eventually do, it's likely existing exchanges would've come up with own decentralised exchanges (e.g. Binance) which have better reputation.

      • If you're thinking Ether Delta and others, sure, though they are already handling fairly large volume with 0x relayers and will scale as Ethereum grows, the security is already there being fully decentralized, there is no issue of security. Once Eth releases Casper, it will handle almost anything. The time to get in is now while the price is still reasonable. It is one of the few tokens that has actually already basically delivered their white paper and are continuing to improve. Can't say that about many crypto coins.

Also, want to add that 0x uses off chain order books via repeaters and is actually quite fast already, you can even test it out for yourself. I highly advise it

        • +1

Try out Idex, much much better. Etherdelta won't be around for too much longer I'm sure, the new owners are greedy af

        • @Elmsy:

Haven't used Idex yet. I'll check it out. Keep an eye on 0x, will go 10x by years end.

  • I’m creating a new coin called…

“The one and only true coin”

    Who wants some? 😂

  • Put 2k into Ripple and am currently losing around half of it.

    • Idk why would you even buy ripple. I hope you just did not think that= "oh wow the #3 coin only costs $1.xx and may become the new bitcoin (or close to it)".

      • I don't claim to know anything about Crypto, so for me it was purely a punt.

Went with a lower value coin as they seemed to fluctuate more. Was going to go with TRON for this very reason but can't figure out how to transfer funds from BTC markets.

Still, happy to hold on to XRP and see what happens.

        • Ok, good luck but both TRX and XRP is a no deal for me. It is quite easy to make an account on binance and transfer the BTC there (just google or I can help, DM me). If you are into low-value coin look at ECC (not on any decent exchanges yet) but I spent $100 on that coin a few days back and got 30K coins and that coin has solid potential and once it reaches decent exchange site that price will rocket.

Other good low-value coins are TEL, KIN, and POT.

Under $10k. Indian government is to blame for this drop

    • You really don't get it. Irrational exuberance is to be blamed. Why is this intangible thing worth anything?

      • -1

So is money and any other token of value. Only thing that matters is utility/adoption.

There are reasons why BTC is a terrible coin that needs to die, this is possibly the least of them though.

    • The indian market is nothing.

The fact is bitcoin has been manipulated for years. Its all coming to an end and I am sure once the regularators get invovled it will spell the end for bitcoin.

  • Big holds are NEO,GAS,XLM,LTC( for the next couple of months) and VEN right now

Put 1k of fiat in during the weekend and scored 30% profit during the recovery for alts then 20% more today.

    • How'd today go?

      • Pretty decent,I was in fiat since this morning.

I set stop limit orders and have price alerts thank you very much. There is absolutely no reason to hodl with fast transactions and the ability to rebuy.

If you believe that cryptocurrency is going the same way as "tulips" then you might be interested to know that a number of exchanges support margin trading (and by extension short selling). ;)

        • Proof or never happened.

I've been on hotcopper for 15 plus years and heard the same BS stories. Talking investment wins and losses is like playing golf - everyone is lying

        • @chumlee:

Maybe you've been dealing with bad investors then. Using the tools that the exchange gives you isn't out of the ordinary nor is it magic.

        • -1

@Talsek: nope. I'm just calling your bluff that everything is working out well for you and your timing is impeccable.

        • @chumlee:

Please refer to the image I posted. My timing is not impeccable but I have price alerts set.

          The wonders of technology ay?

        • @Talsek: can't see your buy and sell price. Is it there as very blurry

        • @chumlee:

Those aren't buy and sell prices. Those are transaction IDs and addresses. I'm keeping those private for the security of my account.

I trade on an exchange,I dont buy and hold. Would you like to examine my paypal history and bank account transactions too lol?
There's no feasible way I can prove to you what transactions are linked to crypto investment and which ones are not because I buy from third parties as well.

Regardless, you asked me to prove that I cashed out to fiat currency on the morning of the 5th. There's your proof

        • -1

          @Talsek: so you lost money

        • @chumlee:

          That's a nice fallacy you've got there.

You're basically telling me to provide the equivalent of my bank account details and half the details needed to send/receive crypto on my behalf. If I dont then I've somehow "lost money" because I cant prove otherwise.

Pretty hard to prove a negative wouldn't you agree?

I'm not sure what exactly you want me to do here,I've already proved that I didn't sit through the -20% depreciation(as you demanded in your first post).

There are plenty of people who have lost money, you can get some self satisfaction from listening to them instead lol

        • @chumlee:

I actually never asserted that I didn't "lose" (portfolio value decreasing) money,in the last 2 days, before withdrawing. You just projected that.

Rest assured that I did not lose money overall.

  • +1

Can someone please explain, for a currency which wishes to be independent of government interference, why does its value drop every time one or the other government clamps down on crypto transactions.
Lets accept it, the fluff coins by itself do not have any value, it is only as good as the network of users value it. So as long as we can use it to fulfill real life transactions it will have some value else its just a ponzi scheme where everyone is just buying & selling the coins. When the music stops, the ones holding the coins will not have any buyers and not much practical use.

  • Game over!

    Was a fun ride :)

    • I’m so tempted to buy in now lol. You know be greedy when others are fearful…

      • Bitcoin has lost AUD $300 billion in market capitalisation since 16 December.
What makes today the turning point?

Also, what is the "fair value" of Bitcoin? Call me a sceptic, but I still don't think it's worth AUD $130 billion.

Is it even worth anything other than what some other poor schmuck is willing to pay for it?

        • +4

Fair value about $1K maybe less now with bitcoin cash that was split out.

Recent buyers haven't realised people talking up bitcoin were doing so as they wanted to get out.

Same old story that the smart money has been selling to the dumb money

        • +1

@chumlee: I don't see Bitcoin as a business/technology/breakaway currency/whatever-you-want-to-classify-it-as is worth anything near what it is capitalised as.

If investors are honest with themselves, what value would they put on it?
Whatever it actually is, I sincerely doubt it's $100 billion. With all things considered, I doubt that figure is even close.

        • +1

@QW3RTY: the idea behind it and the blockchain technology is great but if anyone can do an ICO then it's worthless.

If a company has a great business then they can find a financial backer or list on a stock market. They put their balls on the line and issue a prospectus and if they fail to deliver it's a class action and maybe director ban. Now they want to issue coins and fools are buying them. Only the early investors will make money

      • +2

It hasnt hit bottom yet. Hell the scam that is tether hasnt even popped yet.

        Bitcoin is screwed.

      • +1

The man who coined the phrase "be greedy when others are fearful" W E Buffett also said also said Crypto's are a bubble.

  • +3

Where are all the talkers now?

    • +1

Trying to figure out how they are going to pay back all that money they borrowed to invest. Seriously though, there was ample warning here and elsewhere. What many don'r realise is that there is a world of difference between knowledge and wisdom. The former you get from books and lessons, the later you learn from experience and hanging out with people who have more experience than yourself.

    • -1

Sorry, was busy buying the dip.

  • +6

New thread - how much have you lost?

    • +2

hahaha good one. But I've seen many bubbles in my past, most people never respond after it crashes to save face and not look like fools.

  • Some in Bitcoin, Ethereum, IOTA, NEO, XRP, Litecoin tracking my watchlist here

  • For those on Binance (or want to be) they have a 70% discount on their already cheap trading fees, now 0.03% until 24th February
    (Compare that to Coinspot 3%!!)

It's a sweetener after the 12+ hours unscheduled maintenance.

I've checked after it came back and my funds/coins are in my account, but of course in all things Crypto there are risks, but pretty good deal if you are trading.
