  • Been tossing up between this and surface laptop. Roughly same price. Laptop is core i5 7th Gen. 256ssd and 8gb ram

    • Laptop lighter and battery orobably lasts longer.

Laptop doesnt have detachable screen though.

  • Is this an old version or the current version?

    • -1

Current but about to be replaced.

      • +4

        Old version isn't it?

Surface book 2 13.5" is already out, recently released. 15" is out next month

        • Turns out the 15" is already out as well.

    • +1

Yes this is the old version as the current is "Surface Book 2"

  • Does this come with the keyboard ? I wasn't able to find information in the item description

    • +1

Yes it does. And the pen.

  • Alternativley, 256gb but with an i7 and GPU (performance base, gtx 965m, nothing mind blowing) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Surface-Book-Performance-Base-25…

    • I'm a bit techy challenged. How much ram is this? Can't seem to see it on the detail. Also I'm so confused by the type of surface book, this is surface book 1 < 256gb but with an i7 and GPU (performance base, gtx 965m, nothing mind blowing)>? 6th gen?

      • +1

Yes 6th gen cpu which aren't much behind a 7th gen dual core in performance but are far behind the quad core 8th gen.
8gb of ram installed in this one.

    • sorry for all the questions, do you think performance base is worth it?

      • +1

Depends what you want to do. I personally wouldn't get it as I wouldn't use the additional performance. But if you're using software that will be boosted by the gpu or want to do a little light gaming, then it's extremely worth it.

      • +1

I went from i5 8gb to i7 16gb perf base mainly for the extra ram and gpu. I often have a few Adobe suite programs open on top of browsers and other programs so it works out quite worth it for me. In terms of gpu differences, first Gen GPU allows you to play games but the perf base will let you enjoy them much better (smoother, sharper, higher resolution etc). I actually enjoy playing a game or two on my perf base now compared to my previous book which only had one or two casual games.

Having said that, if you don't game or need intensive work done, then the previous version will be more than enough as it handled most of my work flow admirably well.

        • man that's a tough decision, thank you for the information. i wont be gaming but will be using it for my engineering course. though from what i've heard everyone has iPads.

  • +2

old version, as it has the 6th gen CPU, the current version has 7th / 8th gen CPU (depending on what configuration you get) - https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/surface/devices/surface-book…

  • I bought the surface book with performance base 2 days ago from their ebay store, any chance they’ll give me the discount?

    • Return it and buy this with discount.

    • is this legit? there is 10% code site wide. Tempting

      • +2

Why would you do that? That's the 128GB version and grey import.

  • +2

Thanks. Ordered the i7 with performance base!
