I have one of these, they are great.
doesn't ant which the 505 does, but haven't found that an issue cheap Bluetooth heart rate monitors on Ebay, which I haven't connected as I have a watch that does heart rate.

  • I have the 505,but for this price would reccomend for those looking for a decent bike computer with navigation. I mainly use mine for work commutes and the big screen, combined with selecting the 3 panel screen gives a nice clear indicator of HR, speed and cadence. Do note though this device is almost useless for updating in the wet, rain makes the screen pretty much unusable until dry. Not a big issue but only complaint I've had in the last couple years.

  • As mentioned it doesn't have ANT+ this means it also doesn't support Di2 which the 505 does (I have the 505 and it works well with Di2 and other sensors) - otherwise, it's an awesome unit for the price!

  • Would I have any reason to buy this if I already own a Garmin Fenix 5?

    • I don't think Fenix 5 does navigation by itself. Might be wrong.

This has been on sale at boxlots for ages now, about a year ago…

  • I have a 505 as well which I am quite pleased with. I am by no means a heavy user, I just use it to display data and upload to strava. This not having ant+ would not be suitable for me however. Otherwise if that isn't necessary then this unit looks to be like a good cheapie. Or a used garmin is not far off I think.

  • I guess doesn’t sync with Strava?

    • Yes it does

      • Cool, that’s pretty cheap then :)

  • I have this also, firmware is at a stable version, syncs with strava via wifi. Ended up selling my Garmin 500 when I got one of these from the Dick Smith closure, I doubt you could get a better option for the price.

  • would this be able to read the heart rate off my apple watch?

    • haven’t seen any bike computers that interface the the hr on a watch …… they seem to use chest strap.

      • With most Garmins you can broadcast the HR via ANT+ to your bike computer. It is hidden very well in my watch menu.

I bought a 505HC a few years back. It was my first GPS bike computer.
GPS takes absolutely ages to lock when you are outdoors.
You can't start a ride until you get GPS lock, so doesn't work for recording commutes (try starting in an underground carpark).
Sometimes riding from Sydney CBD, it would take until I got to the harbour bridge to get GPS lock.

Yes, this is a cheap bike computer.
Some of you might be patient with it, you might be okay with the slow user interface and lack of updates.
In which case, I tip my hat to you.
It got too frustrating for me - I just reverted to the FREE STRAVA app on my iphone :)
Much less frustrating, only problem is it drains my phone battery.

    • I found that the route planning just didn't make sensible routes for me, and the amount of touchscreen presses and waiting for the device to start meant that logging wasn't very efficient compared to other devices. Especially in winter it's nice to have gloves on when outside.

  • bought one last week from these guys and now it is cheaper :/ Could have saved $24.

I got it for a secondary bike and to use it for navigation when mountain biking. My Edge 500 doesn't do any navigation.

  • I’m currently using Cyclemeter app on my iPhone and it sends the stats to Strava, it’s a great app. But for long cycles it drains my iPhone battery.

  • Also note that it won’t pair with power meters, even if your powermeter has blue teeth.

  • I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy this… hopefully I won't have issues with the GPS tracking like I do with Strava on my phone!

Thanks Dion, whoever you are, for the 5% off referral link code. :)

Final price for me worked out to be $71.25.

  • Anyone reccomend a good cycle computer that can pair with a power meter. Not too expensive under $200
