  • Their economy is TERRIBLE! unbelievably cramped due to 9 and 10 across seating with limited leg room. Felt like prison for 9hrs from HK to Sydney. If you can get into their HK lounges though…now they are amazing

Well in prison you get a lie flat bed so not a fair comparison :D

so prison is the equivalent of first class then? O_o"

      • solitary confinement

        • That would cost a fortune!

And you get someone to tuck you in.

    • Which aircraft was that?

      • 777 and 330 - the 777 was bearable but the A330 was horrendous (and I have flown at least 250-300 flights to date on a multitude of airlines)

    • Hrmm, I don't think I can recall ever having flown economy to Europe that doesn't have at least 9 abreast (except occasionally at the far rear of the plane where the fuselage narrows).

Also according to SeatGuru the seat pitch is 32, which seems quite reasonable? It's certainly better than local carriers such as Qantas and seems commensurate with other well regarded airlines.

      • Many airlines used to be 2x4x2 seating. The A330 is not as wide as the 777 but also Cathay have cramped seating, so the 9 abreast felt additionally crammed. Fly an A380 at any given change I say to anyone. I will avoid Cathay as much as possible as they charge premium for less then adequate service.
