  • Can this be unlocked for free?

    • Telstra will unlock for free but only after two years

    • You have to pay a fee to Telstra to unlock them.

Personally, I would search eBay for a cheap unlocking code.

        • Got a code from these dudes, it seems to have unlocked the device but it doesn't work with a kogan/vodafone sim, any links to a troubleshooting guide or clues?

        • @youshi:

Log in to the user interface at 192.168.0.1 The default password is password Go to Network settings then APN and you should see the default Telstra APN. Click on Add New to make one for Vodafone which you can name Vodafone and enter for the APN live.vodafone.com and leave everything else blank. Then save it and make sure the Vodafone APN is the default now instead of the Telstra APN. Then you should be able to connect with your Vodafone sim. If it does not work check your settings and try turning it off and then back on again. Naturally when you want to use the Telstra sim again you will need to use the Telstra APN.

Thanks heaps I think I've got it sorted, all working except for when I try to change the name of the modem, can't reconnect afterwards, but it's not crucial, thanks again!

    • Does any other carrier offer 4GX?

  • FYI… Most Coles stores stock both the MF910V & MF910Z. Just ask them to check the model printed on the box before you pay. I know this because I bought one a few weeks ago and specifically wanted the MF910V. Rung around a few stores, and they confirmed they had both in stock. Even though they suggested there's no difference, we know better :)

      What's the difference?

As OP has stated: / 2300mAh battery vs 2000mAh / dual band Wi-Fi vs single band / full size SIM vs micro SIM.

thanks. I'll go dig out my glasses and read the posts better next time :(

      • Edit: What he said :)

    • The problem is the packaging doesn't make the difference obvious. Other than one box is green and the other one is orange all writings are the same on both boxes.

  • The model number printed on white label on box - mf910v or mf910z.
Also mf910z is more 4G frequencies compatible: 700/900/1800/2100/2600
    but mf910v is 700/1800/2600 only

  • okay so Kmart at Hurstville only has the 'z' models.

  • V or Z better? What’s your thought?
