Triple your budget and then we can talk. Never skimp on keyboards or motherboards. It's the Craig's Law of computing.

    • What about mechanical rgb? I'm upgrading from a included keyboard so think anything will be an improvement

  • Do you want to control the RGB with software?

Try and aim more a bigger budget. Getting Chinese brand keyboard can really affect your over all experience while gaming or typing up something. They feel really cheap, have slow response time and even far travel distance.

I use to have a $80 cyborg cat 5 keybaord and the over all experience was poor, Then went with the Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum for $280 and it was worth the money.

The RGB is much brighter and has amazing RGB animation. You can also set it up so that when you get a Facebook message the keyboard can flash colors to alert you.

    • I really cant justify an extra $200 for nicer rgb lighting

      Ouch.

I picked one up from Harvey Norman late last year for $138.

      Beautiful keyboard though.

      • I got the keyboard when it first came out. So it was a bit pricey. But yeah its way cheaper now

You need to spend at least $12,000 for a decent keyboard
    Anything less will be worthless.

    • Practically unplayable. Especially when below 145fps.

At that budget you're definitely looking at membrane especially if you want a quality product.

    Is your name Stevie wonder

  • I have never used an expensive keyboard… just relied on what was provided at work and what cheap cordless Microsoft one I could kind when building pc's at home. Excusing my ignorance, whats the big deal with "mechanical" and "cherry mx" etc?
Not being a troll, legitimately want to know why I should spend more on something I've used happily and pretty much unchanged for 30 years?

    • NVM, found a good site to fill me in. https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/faqs.php

So now I not only know what a Cherry MX switch is, but the different types/colours of switches and their purposes.

It’s actually changed a lot in the last 30 years.
It’s gone from an IBM model m with a buckling spring
To a cherry mx switch and now the cheapest to manufacture is a membrane keyboard.
The satisfaction typing on a mechanical keyboard is like typing on a type writer.

  • Why not game on the cheap?
    - $0-$20 Dell OCJ-339
    - $0-$50 Dell SK-8135
    - $200-$600 Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF
    - $180-$250 GTX 1050 Ti-LP
    …Total: $400-$950
