nice. didn't really need new pans but hey

  • -1

Link for the other two deals pls..

  • +1

Oh dear. No need for these, but bought!

  • +1

    all expired :(

  • +1

    OOS now

  • +2

The whole Le Creuset range is on sale from the site :O

Seriously, what's the difference between these and the pans from Woolies? Who freaken spends $160 on a frying pan??

    • +2

Yeah. I got the normal $4.50 frying pan from IKEA and it lasted me for almost 2 years and still going. I bought another one anyway on my last visit.. at this rate $160 could last you for well beyond 30 years worth of nearly new pans.. not sure why people buy these expensive utensils…

      • +11

        because some people:

        a) care about cooking more than you
        b) have more money than you
        c) some combination of a) and b)

        • +1

This still doesn't answer the "value for money" equation.. Anyways when it comes to opinion, to each their own.

        • +4

          @bigbadboogieman:

Buying a single product that lasts a lifetime is generally more environmentally friendly too.

        • @bigbadboogieman:

i think this is just an area where you aren't accustomed to spending a lot of money and don't care enough about incremental benefits to spend more. so i can understand why you are getting hung up on 'it can't be 30x better!'

if we were talking about about cars, televisions, shoes, etc, you might have a different opinion. or maybe not, you are an ozb poster after all :)

      • +1

I’ve had my scanpan non stick pan for just shy of 6 years and an egg still will slide around like it did day one.
What’s more is I can and do use metal utensils in it without damaging it.
Value for money is I don’t have to waste time yearly buying pans, nor feel crap about destroying the earth as much.
I use to buy my pan from Ikeas a long while back and would replace it when the Teflon started to lift after I realised I was eating it.. that will kill you TBH so I found a better way.

        • +1

          Edit:
I should also mention heat retention and distribution is relative depending on your culinary aptitude.

        • +1

Please do share what super pan you are using, thanks

        • The Teflon lifting kinda makes sense. Share more details about the pan you're using as I am clearly not prepared to spent in the hundreds and its difficult to get in deals like this one which sell out very quickly. I would expect metal to be recyclable.

        • @bigbadboogieman: scanpan Classic (I believe there’s two versions, mine is oven safe to 220’) ~$100 26cm

  • +2

    OOS all.

  • Shows as out of stock for all 3

  • zomg, I posted a comment above and now they are all OOS :'(

    • +13

rule #2 of OzBargain - buy first, ask questions later

  • +1

    Pricing error?

Edit: Probably not because the entire range is on sale, crazy prices.

    • +9

I've got a good feeling it is.

Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick Stir Frypan 30cm $227.40 down from $320
Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick Square Grill Pan 28cm $200.70 down from $280
Le Creuset Toughened Non-Stick 3pc Saucepan Set $490.50 down from $690

      Sounds more realistic

      • These are the Chinese made pans, not like the French made dishes. Maybe that’s it?

        • +15

@Shmzhu: Tell that to all the Chinese who buy baby formula from Australia rather then China.

For certain products it does. My wife's family always check to see if their asian groceries are made in china.

        • +1

@Jake Elwood: To be fair I don't think these pans are killing babies.

        • +13

          @FlipCrank: Depends on how you use it… I guess…

        • +2

@Shmzhu: You're right. My judgment comes from the differences in warranty between the French made and Asian made pans and a bit of critical thought. If these were equal quality, I guess there'd be no qualms about offering the renowned warranty that French Le Creuset items have. Yet, that's not the case because the quality won't be the same. What company would undercut themselves and devalue their premium line by selling a FAR cheaper version for a fraction of the cost (to their equally well-made French manufactured product)? Nobody.

        • @Jake Elwood: Jake, please… generalisation against a certain nation on a single sided bias view doesn't help your comment. My point wasn't trying to turn this conversation towards nationalism or against certain race. Certain commercial behaviour is not encouraged for sure, I personally agree with that. Because very neiche people are using market/product as an arbitrage to make a profit. Definitly put a bad image on that nation, and quite happily mainstream media is using that against ALL Chinese/Chinese-related factors. But do think that, if that your wife's family is so Chinese-phobic, they should start stripping half of their household products away. Oh yes, maybe their underwear too - highly likely they're made in china too - in my humble opinion.

        • @Shmzhu: My wife's family are Chinese. Don't get me wrong about goods from China is the food they don't trust. II mentioned this originally because their are good reasons for certain products to be mistrusted when they come from a particular country and others not so.

I use my Chinese made iPhone but not food.

    • still out of stock but now at $255. 93% off is probably a pricing error. best non error deal i could see was Jamie oliver pans for 68% off.

  • Oh man I actually need one of these and been keeping my eye out 😭😭

    • +10

better put your eye back in now while you wait for another deal

  • Damm it

  • click bait!

    • < fished in > 🐟

  • +1

I'm jealous of all the people who post that they missed out, jealous because nothing is worse than having 4 of the items in ur cart and 1 by 1 they become out of stock during your checkout process….just sayin.

    • +5

You might have dodged a bullet. The items on sale aren’t the French made cookwear, they’re designed in France and made in Thailand and China. I don’t know if they’re the same quality as the traditional ones, but given that they have a “limited lifetime” warranty, rather than the traditional “lifetime” warranty, I’d presume the others are better quality.

      • +3

        Yay for brand dilution

    • There's a few dubious reviews about this range. Apparently the non stick coating isn't so great. I thought that might have been why they were selling them out so cheap.

  • insane deals. managed to get a couple of things.

  • The Square grill would've been perfect for my wagyu steaks :'(

    • +1

Not really. It’s non stick so it probably can’t tollerate very high heat which is what you need for a good steak. Buy a cast iron pan.

      • oh…..thanks for the tip.

What's a good cast iron pan?

        • Le Creuset make quality cast iron. But really, anything with a thick base will serve well.

        • +1

Have a look at the Lodge pans - great prices at peters of kensington. Le creuset versions have non stick coatings so they can't be used for high heat cooking, which can be a problem.

        • +3

Go to a camping store like Ray's / Anaconda and just buy a budget** skillet with a thick base. Cost you $30-50 and will outlive you, your kids and your grandchildren if looked after correctly

          **cast iron skillet

        • "What's a good cast iron pan?"

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222660596729

        • @devilbabies: Thanks, that doesn't look so bad actually. Can anyone give me a 2nd opinion on this one before I commit on buying?

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222660596729

          Thanks.

        • +1

I’ve got a Lodge myself and love it. I’ve heard good things about the ~$10 ones from Aldi and often hear people pickup super bargains at garage sales.

They can get gross looking if people don’t take care of them but they’re so tough that if you put 1 or 2 hours work into them one weekend and take care of them you’ll get them looking brand new for a lifetime.

        • Looks good! If you can find one with a cast iron handle, even better, as you can then throw the skillet in the oven if you want to.

        • This is the exact one I bought from Anaconda about 6 years ago, still going strong. From memory I paid about $30-40 for it back then, doesnt look like Anaconda still carry the version with the iron handle.

@HarveySpecter: if you can afford wagyu beef, you can afford that pan

        • +1

Thanks all, bought the ebay one :)

        • @HarveySpecter:

I have the cast iron le-crueset pan since we love their other stuff. Apart from cooking steak it's a really awful frying pan avoid if you want something that's multi purpose.

        • @devilbabies: I bought that and now this deal suddenly appeared out of no where

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/358073

          FML

    • Cast iron.

    • i used the huge asian iron wok for the steaks, turns out better than the LC Skillet because the LC skillet cannot use large fire

  • +1

    The omelette pans still available.
    check here http://www.kitchenwarehouse.com.au/Search-KWH?stq=Le%20Creus…

  • Damnn hesitated for a minute after putting items in checkout. Was thinking to myself Do i really need new pans??
Opened up ozbargain to looking for persuasion, and then it was all sold out :(

  • All the 93% off cookware are out of stock :(

  • Seems like this has to be a pricing error, those prices are insane.

    • +1

Perhaps not. They’re not made in France. The French made version likely would never hit prices that low.

  • Just got in on the 24cm pan. This was Ozbargained very quickly!

  • GONE

  • woah $320 original price. Are these actually much more superior to $50 tefal pans that I'm unaware of?

    • +5

      cool story, Sis

      • -3

I know. I just hardly ever have anything to contribute so I felt like "Yay" then "Oh" then the selfish anxiety that pervades my existence bubbled up and spilled out my lonely fingers. Cool story, indeed.

    • My dad found it last night. :p

  • +1

I really wanted that saucepan set! :)

    Pretty good buy!

    • That was already OOS. I ordered my consignment of pans within 2mins of this deal showing up. There were quite a few more than just the 3 pans in to OP, but anything that wasn't a pan was sold out - even a couple of the pans were out. This is what I got…

      • Toughened Non-Stick Deep Frying Pan 30cm with Handle 2 $38.76 $3.87 $42.63
      • Toughened Non-Stick Omelette Pan 20cm 1 $10.46 $1.05 $11.51
      • Toughened Non-Stick Square Grill Pan 28cm 1 $18.24 $1.83 $20.07
      • Toughened Non-Stick Deep Frying Pan 26cm with Handle 1 $16.95 $1.69 $18.64
      • Toughened Non-Stick Deep Frying Pan 24cm 1 $15.32 $1.54 $16.86
      • Toughened Non-Stick Shallow Frying Pan 24cm 1 $14.19 $1.42 $15.61
      • Toughened Non-Stick Shallow Frying Pan 28cm 2 $33.89 $3.39 $37.28
      • Toughened Non-Stick Stir Frypan 30cm with Handle 1 $20.68 $2.06 $22.74

I doubt they will honour them. Would be pretty stoked if they did though.

      • -7

Out of interest, do you cook at all?

Your order looks like that of a noob that turns up at the golf course with the whole range of clubs but don't know how to use any of them. :)

        • +1

          That's a bit ignorant.

What's the difference between someone with a full golf set and someone with a full golf set who can't play?

      • Yeah nice. I bought some specials the other day, got about $200 of Raco for $50. It was a great bargain to me.

I just needed some pots to finish it off before moving into a new rental!

  • +1

From their terms "However, some prices may occasionally appear incorrectly or inconsistently on different site pages despite our best efforts. We will get in touch with you should your order be affected by a pricing error prior to processing it. We will also give you the option to purchase the product at the correct price or cancel your order altogether."

    But good luck!

  • +3

Got all excited - ordered all three, even though I didn't need them - made it into my cart.

All of them gradually went out of stock - ended up with none!

Then sanity prevailed, and I remembered:

    1. If you're going to buy Le Creuset, bite the bullet and buy the cast iron versions. You'll have them for life, and they look great.
    2. A non-stick wok and grill are both abominations - the surface will degrade very quickly at the high temperatures required.

The first time I can recall being happy with an out of stock message on an Ozbargain special!

    • +3

If you're going to buy Le Creuset, buy the French Le Creuset, not the cheaper made line. Seriously, they'll outlive you and you'll hand them down to your children.

Anyone who bought these at full price probably bought something with average quality at Le Creuset prices. This probably not much more than the Le Creuset "look" on a Chinese/Thai made pan, not the French cookware that has been made in France for 90 odd years which if purchased back then, could still be sent to Le Creuset under warranty today.

      • The Le Creuset cast iron, made in France, cookware is wonderful - I have various frypans, omelette pans and casseroles in my collection - some 20 years old and still perfect.

Check out the made in France Chasseur cast iron cookware as well - much cheaper than the Le Creuset, and just as good, I think. I have a set of their saucepans and they are great.

  • +1

Looks like they started correcting the prices. So doubt they will honor any orders. Hopefully they do for those that ordered!

    • Please post prices after correction. Thanks

      • +2

Do a search on Stumo's list above, example is the Omelette pan, Stumo's price was $11.51, price now on the website is $129.

Even the original link in the Ops post is increased to $255 instead of $22.74.

  • Kitchenware house melville not honor these prices.

  • +3

More like a price error. Best to wait for a deal on Le Croissant.

    • +1

Ohh I love a good deal on breadsticks!

  • +2

    Price error for sure

  • +1

Has to be a pricing error. Stanby for cancellation

  • No STOCK

  • Price back to $255

  • I don't think this is a price error. This isn't the Le Creuset people talk about when they say they inherited this pot or pan from their great grandmother. These are Le Creuset branded and styled pans that are made in China or Thailand. They do not have the same warranty as the French made Le Creuset and their quality should probably come into questions – given that Le Creuset themselves will not stand by these products with the same warranty as their higher end range. Kind of sad to see such an iconic brand go down this path but its good to know they still have their traditional range, for which we will very unlikely ever see such prices for.
