Mens Plain T-Shirts?

I'm about to buy some plain cotton T-shirts from ASColour and was wondering if there are any alternative brands I should know about?

Costco's Kirkland brand make excellent t-shirts (in plain white)

    • Another great suggestion, thanks man. I'll pay them a visit.

    • Do you remember how much they cost?

I've recently got onto the ASOS branded ones. They are so cheap and free shipping over $40. Also you can get them in packs of 5 for ~$50.

    • Can you comment on quality? I've bought ASOS branded stuff before and the quality really is reflected in the price (i.e. not so great).

I get mine from K-Mart. I haven’t bought from Uniqlo or ASOS before so I can’t comment on quality, however if the shirts are 100% cotton I’d imagine they’d be similar in quality regardless of retailer. If they have an element of spandex in them then they might vary a bit more in terms of quality, with regards to stretching and form fitting over time.

Generally, the K-Mart standard cotton round-neck tees are around $4.50 each. I’ve used their grey t-shirts for maybe 6 months and wear them between working outside landscaping and gardening to PJ’s and they have held their shape well, not fuzzed to any great degree or torn despite me being very rough with them. I’m happy with them and they are sometimes cleared with different colours for as low as $3.

They don’t breath particularly well, I sweat a lot anyway but I find them sometimes to be quite hot.

    • Great review. I'll check them out.

  • http://blanksbrand.com based in GC and better than AS

Depends on what you want them for and the style. I used to screenprint a bit and have bought plain ones from Target, Rivers and K-Mart. 100% cotton. I have also bought bulk from Amazon in the States (but not sure how this works now). I was paying about AU$7 for baseball tees (raglan, 3/4 length sleeve). I also prefer seamless or 'tube' style. Hanes made some nice thick ones once upon a time.

  • If you're in Sydney, check out Muji at The Galleries Victoria. They make really good basics.
