I just found a novelty dash cam, which could share the driving pics and videos by phone. It seems convenient for me to record my driving since I haven’t bought my car a comprehensive insurance but a third party one.I chose to buy a dash cam in case of other people hit me accidentally…
I bought a $69.99 dash cam from the seller which works really well but without the function of sharing pics by phone. This one was expensive when I saw it so I didn’t buy and now the seller has reduced its price! I would definitely buy one at this price.
Main features:

1.Equipped with six full glass F1.8 lens and Panasonic CMOS Sensor

2.Take a picture by simply waving your hand at fleeting moments.

3.WiFi Connection&Born To Share

4.Rotatable Angle with 300 Degree

5.Equipped with G-sensor,WDR,Loop recording. The G-sensor sensitivity level can be adjusted via APP.

It seems convenient for me to record my driving since I haven’t bought my car a third party insurance because I’m confident about my skills and it is a cost of money

You shouldn't be on the road.

Hi I bought the rego which covers the third party insurance so if accident happens, it will cover the other person's damage just not mine. So I choose to take the risk.

      • +2

that is CTP and only covers damage to people - you are still liable for damage to property

people are telling you to buy an additional insurance policy that covers damage

  • +11

I pay a little over $200 a year for the third party insurance, definitely more important than this $99 dash cam.
Not saying dash cam isn’t necessary, it is a good gadget to have on top of insurance.

    • Could you tell me which company is that?

      • any company

        coles
        justcar
        racq
        etc,etc.

      • +1

RACQ, adding additional driver only cost $20 extra.
        I’m a p plater too

      • Try Bingle. $115 for me.

        • That's cheap.

        • I tried to get a quote on Bingle and found it is more expensive than RAC or coles…

Third party insurance won't help you fix your car when the people in the other car blame you and the evidence looks like it could be your fault.

    • yes, you are right.

  • Does anyone know how this compares to the Xiaomi 70 minutes (ignoring the language difference)?

  • +15

Just note this is from China, not AU as per the eBay Page.

Therefore much cheaper on Amazon US @ $56 USD (~$69 AUD).

    Australia tax enforced.

    • Oh, so this product is cheaper on Amazon than on Ebay though both more expensive than on Amazon US?

  • Although not exactly the same, design and functionality looks similar to the Xiaomi 70 Minutes, which has shown up here plenty of times under $40 delivered.

    • do you have the link?

I haven’t bought my car a third party insurance because I’m confident about my skills and it is a cost of money.

Please don't do this, if you can't afford 3rd party property damage then you can't afford to be on the road.

I know right. God forbid what happens when OP does have an accident and crashes into that high investment yield car? Is OP going to be able to fork out 80k plus their own repairs?

  • +1

This is a confusing post regarding Third Party Insurance (TPI). Isnt TPI compulsory? Also, without TPI you can't get a rego. Does this mean OP is driving an unregistered car as well?

    • +1

That's what I thought as well, in QLD that is. When you renew your registration, it includes payment for the third party insurance….

    • This is Third Party Property Damage, where you are insured for damage you have caused to other peoples property - not people like TPI

      • +1

        not people like TPI CTP

        FTFY.

In NSW, https://www.greenslips.nsw.gov.au or Compulsory Third Party (CTP) is mandatory along with rego.

Third Party Property Damage, or Comprehensive may be bought on top https://www.nrma.com.au/car-insurance

    • Yes, I did make a confusing post. It should be the comprehensive car insurance.

    I’m confident about my skills

me too, so I don't wear a seat belt.

    • sorry about the words. Please remember wearing your seat belt when driving.

Re. I’m confident about my skills and it is a cost of money.
    Really? Who speaks like that?

Isn't this dash cam just a knock-off of the Xiaomi 70 mins one but at a higher price? If you are saving money, why wouldn't you just buy the Xiaomi version?

    • I googled the xiaomi version you said and found it was quite similar and useful.
However,I bought a xiaomi watch a year ago then it went broken in a month. So I choose not to buy xiaomi ones.
      Thanks for your advice.
