  • I love splashing hot cooking oil on the display while I cook my pork chops

  • Better get the new Sonos One for a bit more which gonna include Google Assistant sometime this year

    • After running with a couple of GH minis and a standard GH (all for less than the cost of a Sonos 1), I'm not as convinced by Sonos anymore. My setup is primarily for whole-house music and sure, the sound quality isn't quite there compared to Sonos, but once you factor in a Chromecast audio in my main stereo and with the GH's all grouped together, it is pretty impressive. I'm curious to see when the GH Max launches because I reckon I'll jump on that too.

The big advantage that the JBL has is that it can be battery powered as well, doubling up as a Bluetooth speaker as well as being part of a CC audio mesh, as well as a Google assistant speaker

      • I got 2 GHm and 1GH and to be honest the sound quality can't be compared with Sonos. Admittedly Sonos is much more exxy. The only reason I prefer Sonos is the ease of use and future expansion possibility. Also I can use it with my TV and can create custom announcement, which is something GH is lacking atm.

        • Sonos certainly have advantages, and if you're already in the system then it makes sense to stay with them. When you say you can create custom announcements, is that beyond the broadcast feature that GH does?

        • @ebosh: Yeah, you can create custom announcement that works with other triggers, like when I arrive at work Sonos can announce 'voldemort has arrived safely at work' or when I'm about to get home. I can also set remind announcement for things like bin days

        • @voldemort: Huh, TIL. I suppose it's like IFTTT?
