    Probably a stupid question, will it hold the phone with case or you need to remove the case first?

      Magnetic mounts always come with a metal plate that you can either attach to the outside of your phone/case, or you can place between the phone and a case. If you are putting it inside the case, you would want the case to be very thin, otherwise the phone will not attach very securely (how well will depend on the strength of the magnet, the thickness of the case, and the weight of the phone).

      If you have a really thin shell case, then the magnet should work great. If you have a thick leather case, it is highly unlikely that the magnet will hold the phone securely.

    Bought one. I use hire cars a bit and might need to carry spare double sided tape around… or probably better to just buy a vent style one. For 75c it's worth testing out anyway.

      I would stick with the vent ones.

      The holder will have foam/rubber under the double sided tape to help it adhere to the uneven/curved dash.
      Once you have removed this, just using tape will not sick to the dash as well.

          @AlienC: If there's no case, I think it will hold. You should probably be careful while touching it or moving it around. It wasn't designed for flipping.

          If you're worried, just put a pillow under it in case you drop it.
