Remote control cars - no deal.

Just got an email from Atlas Copco. (The email was sent to me via the atlas copco redemption form, not to me as a moderator)

Underestimating the power of social media

To our shock our RCS campaign recently and suddenly received a massive and overwhelming response. False campaign codes were published and advertised on the website www.ozbargains.com.au. Initially we sent out a few remote controlled cars to enquiries generated through this site without checking but, when 1000s of responses came in we had to take action.

Genuine codes were sent out to our customers and potential customers. We hope you can appreciate that we cannot send out thousands of remote controlled cars and we are sorry that we cannot accept any other codes than those of genuine origin.

We are sorry to inform you that you will not be receiving the radio controlled car. As a small token, your email has been placed in a draw for one of five model Pit Viper drill rigs and five model ST14 underground loaders which are collectors pieces.

When you filled in your questionnaire you may have provided your contact details, please be assured that we will not be using or keeping your details on file.

We apologise for any inconvenience and any ambiguity on our website.

Regards,

Sue Goc

Lazy, stupid companies that blame OzB for their own lack of foresight in these promotions really irritate me!

Instead of using their feeble minds to design the promo correctly or nominate a reasonable number of promotional toys to send out, and once depleted the promo is done; no, they open it up completely, complain when the inevitable happens, and start pointing fingers at everyone else but themselves!

I don't care if I don't get the cheap crappy toy; I'm fairly sure not many of us ever expected to; but for companies to keep blaming OzBargain for their own lack of commonsense is appalling!!!

Doey's right! They deserve to be OzBargained, well & truly, hard & dry! :p

Right on stewballs. And sometimes I'm sure they do this deliberately just to harvest email addresses. Bad Luck Idiot is all I can say to Sue Gloc and Atlas Copco.

  • if i recall the deal right, it was pretty dodgy, just like that canadian phone cover deal, so anyone that got thier hopes up, needs to suck up that disappoinment, like missing out on a super cotd deal!!

Probably closer in nature to the Nulon Octane booster deal IMHO, but your point is valid! Nulon actually sent mine to me, dunno how many others got theirs too! :)

With regard to Atlas Copco et.al. blaming OzB for their own stupidity…you don't waste your time blaming a fox for eating your chooks, you put up a better fence! ;)

Hey, I heard a scary story over Halloween…maybe an urban myth but spooky nonetheless…if you say COTD three times in front of a mirror a heap of sockpuppets will appear behind you and every server in your neighbourhood will crash!!! :o
