Columbia Bugaboo Interchange Mens Ski Jacket Black $85 + Shipping (or Free with $99+ Orders) @ Adventure Megastore

380

I can't find this cheaper anywhere else.
It's only for the black colour, but its even cheaper than stores in the USA.
Yes, it's an older style, but it fits my budget and might for others as well.
That coupled that it's available in all sizes makes it a good deal IMO.
Also there aren't too many stores that sell a lot of Columbia products (Yes, i am biased towards this brand!) all in the one store anymore.
Has decent reviews, makes for a good ski and overall winter jacket.

FYI - I've ordered the large after trying it on in store. If you read the reviews several will comment about how the sizes have lead to problems, so recommend you try before buying them. Even for me the L will be slightly large, but you want a jacket that is slightly larger rather than a tight or near tight fit!

Enjoy.

  • These are great jackets, I bought one 8 years ago and only just replaced it.

    • Does this have pip vents? Also is there enough room in the wrists, to tuck ski gloves in?

      • No vents, the wrists were big with velcro to adjust

        • Dammit. I need underarm vents for heat mgt. nice jacket otherwise

      • Why do you tuck gloves in? I always have the cuff over the jacket so as you slide in the snow it flows along outside your clothing.

        • I figure that any snow that is on my arms will fall off without going into my gloves, similar to how rain goes of roof tiles. That's how I've always done it and I've never had any problems.

But I see your point… I guess it depends which way the snow is going.

Does your snow jacket have pip vents? If so do you use them?

          @Worf:
I think you mean -pit- zips, as in armpit zips. No, not really. Most of my jackets have them, and I find for temp control I am more likely to take off a lower layer of fleece or thermal to suit that temperature. Where it gets handy is if the top of the mountain is minus 20 and blowing like crazy and then by the time you are half way down it is minus 5 and still. Then you start to get hot.

As for gloves, if you put your hands out in a slide, the snow is travelling at speed from your fingers towards your shoulders. In this situation you want your gloves outside your jacket or your sleeves just fill up with snow.

  • Thanks op for the write up. You mention you purchased a large but we have no idea how that compares to other standard sizes? Do you normally wear large or medium or XL? Do they run small or large?

Hey mate. The sizes for these jackets at least are US sizing. I fit into medium or larges normally, but that's only because it depends on brands! I would normally wear an L size jacket, but this is slightly bigger - mind you it's not that big! I'm about 5"11 and 82-85Kg (depending on where i've eaten :-D) and that's what it is working out for me to be. Mind you i tried it with a thin shirt only and i think these jackets should be tried with minimal clothing (ie no sweaters etc when trying them on as it comes with a fleece removable layer).
The one thing i didn't try was taking the fleece layer out and trying the outer jacket only. Either case i've gambled and it's on it's way! Pretty sure medium would be too small, as i tried that in store and it was a tight fit.
Hope that helps…sorry i'm no fashion guru, and this will probably be my only contribution in the ozbargain fashion scene!

      • Thanks bullettime. Just wondering, what is the waterproof rating for these? I can't seem to find the specific rating, and was wondering if you can use it for lots of snowboarding activity in places like Perisher, and other ski resorts in Japan and New Zealand?

        • Do you plan to ski in the rain? Only did that once at Coronet Peak. Don't recommend it. On;y did it as it was our last day and we didn't have to worry about drying it all out afterwards.

        • @bigspike: haha, probably not in the rain. But is it good for a good week of boarding?

        • @pizzaofpeace: I think it would be. My other half has something similar with the heat protection and it worked fine for our week of snow in Japan.

        • Think it's fairly waterproof. Can't comment on how much.

  • Cheers. Bought one.

  • bought one, thanks OP

  • This would be a great deal if their website ever worked. I get to the checkout screen for it to get stuck on 'Submitting order information' Tried 5 times on different browsers and devices. Very annoying.

    • Must've been a temporary glitch. I ordered one just a few hours before you and it was ok.

  • Ordered last night and didnt get any confirmation but was charged so… and is not showing under my orders.
Seems the price has gone back to normal now.

  • Bought one and wait to see if it's the one which I'd like to have. Tkx.

  • Mine arrived. Ordered Thursday, shipped Friday. Express post to regional NSW. Very happy. L is the right size. Definitely a bargain in my books.

    • Yeah, a good bargain so thanks for posting.

I ended up gambling on Medium. I'm a little smaller than you - 5'8", 64Kg so figured Large might be a touch too big. I'll find out in a few days I guess :)

      • Thanks OP, I got one too.
Hahah well interestingly redcreek, one of us might be disappointed, I ordered a Small and same height/weight as you :P
Oh well they do take returns at least.
Will find out on Friday I guess when mine is due to arrive.

        • Good luck to us both on friday @spa :)
I kind of prefer my jackets to be on the bigger side so we still may both win with any luck.

        • @redcreek200:

I actually just received my Small, it fits perfectly to my liking!

          Good luck with your sizing!

        • @spa:

          Glad yours fits good, @spa.

Mine arrived today and too big so you had it right. I was kind of surprised - never had a jacket smaller than medium before. In fact even have another ancient US ski jacket that is Large. Unfortunately, I'll have to return this one.
