PS4 Controller Not Working, Can I Get a Refund?

I bought a ps4 slim from Target via eBay in September 2016, and the controller that came with the console, the left stick doesn't work now.

Can I claim a refund/exchange it for a new controller?

what did Target say when you contacted them and asked about it?

I still need to do that.

Why didn't you do that first?

        • I have now emailed the eBay targetAU team. Just thought I would get a general idea from the ozbargs community at the same time. Some good suggestions below so far.

Because apparently complaining to a disinterested audience is step #1 these days.

Then you post a photo of the offending item to Instgram, Twitter #OUTRAGE #NOTGOODENOUGH #TARGET, update FaceBook, have some smash avocado for lunch before asking how to organise a class action.

You can't just go and ring up the retailer (which over an hour later still won't have happened).

1 year warranty so they may very well tell you to bugger off. Can't hurt to ask though. You could possibly argue that it should've lasted longer and bring the ACCC into it but that may be more effort than it's worth.

    Nope
    Good luck
    Buy another one

Wear & tear, deal with it.

Also stop wiggling your left stick too hard like there is no tomorrow.

    • Yeah, but it is not even 2 years old and I play a couple of hours a week. The issue is the left stick doesn't move the player forward in games like battlefield. So to move forward I have to click in L3 for sprint, and then it only works. I have tried to fix it as per many youtube videos, but still no luck.

      • I broke & replaced mine many times. It's a known problem & it will be user's fault.

Save your trouble and buy a new one.

  • If you paid with CC, check your card. Mine doubles warranty.

    • As in the terms and condition of the credit card?

Target is completely within their right to direct you to Sony - who may be feeling generous and will help you out…. or not.

    • It's Sony - emphasis on 'or not'

  • How do they refund the controller when it's part of main package?.

    • Been advised by both Target and Sony that it is out of warranty.

      • Thx for telling us.

        And you are welcome.
