Hi guys, just wondering if someone can give me some recommendation/feedback for the xiaomi IP security camera for home use. I see the deals pop up fairly regularly, but there are different models out there. I really just need ones for basic use, probably don't need ones that you can turn the angle using the APP. Thank you

good to know scrimshaw, I have them as well and thought the problem is if the firmware gets updated but now I know not to unpair them. I can also recommend the dafang as I have them as well. they are a big camera though.

Price between $25 to $30 I had one and still going good.like scrimshaw said they are now ip locked to China. I wouldn't risk buying the xiaofang now.

MiHome enables automatic updates when it installs a new version, hence schedules an update of the firmware on your IP camera.
There is not an easy way to downgrade the firmware on the camera.

I don't think we can downgrade. Also you can disable auto updates from your phone google app setting.

if you are using these cameras try following this procedure to "hack" the firmware

I would recommend Xiaomi XiaoFang, however, last week I accidentally unpaired my Xiaomi camera and tried everything under the sun trying to repair it. It appears that Xiaomi has coded the mi home app to not let you pair the camera if you try to use it outside of mainland china and the newer versions of the product also has firmware that blocks usage outside of China.
