Samsung 50" Plasma - JB receipt with F&F discount

60

I picked up a Samsung 50" 3D plasma utilising the JB HiFI family and friends discount a week or so and thought I would post the recipt so others might be able to get the same deal if you ware interested in the same TV.

The cheapest I could get it down to prior to the F&F discount was $1720. With the discount I got it for $1526.

The extra bonus is that (if still available) you can get the #d pack with extra glasses, 3D movies and a 22" LED TV all for free. Supposedly with over $1200!

EDIT: here is the details of the promo http://www.samsung.com/au/promotions/tv-av/av-xmas-promotion…

Not bad. I got Myer Pacific Fair to match JB's $1526 price. However they also had a 10% bonus on gift cards (still do until 17th IIRC). So in effect I got another 9.09% off, or a total price of $1387.28.

    Also got a Samsung C5900 3D Bluray player for $249 ($226.37 effective).

    • Well done. Paid $2100 in May for this tv.

    • wife just went to myer garden city, the buy $250 of myer gift vouchers and get $25 bonus is still in effect, they said it finishes tomorrow.

many thanks for the heads up, thats a pretty damn cheap tv :)

      EDIT

also, as she spent $X in vouchers, she also got $150 in further vouchers to spend in store after the purchase… which works in well for xmas shopping

I can only plus this deal one time, sadly

    • can you pleaseeeee post receipt?

myer sydney cbd would only do $1650 and said they WILL NOT match JB because it is under cost price >_<

      pleaseeeeeee!

I bought $1950 worth of gift cards to pay the above. Actual receipt is about a metre long as it shows gift card, after gift card, being redeemed. But the above should be all you need.

        • thank u soo much :)

You crossed out the POS number. That is NOT the receipt number. The receipt number is after the date and time. I made the same mistake and had to phone Samsung.

Thank you for your receipt. They wouldn't price match JB but they priced matched your receipt.

        • You crossed out the POS number. That is NOT the receipt number.

          Thanks maf101.

What a stupid design. So the number right next to "POS reference" isn't the reference number, and some random unnamed number is the reference number?!

I just rang up Samsung Promotions to change the number. Hope this doesn't screw me out of my bonus! I'll be pissed as I was hoping to ebay a couple of the glasses and TV to help pay for the plasma.

According to the website, there's only 458 3D packs left. Hopefully I'll be ok.

Thank you for your receipt. They wouldn’t price match JB but they priced matched your receipt.

You're welcome. Did you get the 3D Bluray player too? That was pretty cheap too.

          thank u soo much :)

          You're welcome too, neosin.

        • This is my receipt. http://www.users.on.net/~maf101/myer-tv.jpg

The POS number 06690000222 didn't feel like a receipt number.

I went back to Myers and checked with the sales guy. He showed me the number next to the date. It's broken into parts; store number, department or register number (I don't remember what he said) and the sales number.

Samsung told me to make sure I send the orginal receipt by registered post and to write my claim number on the top of the receipt. I don't have my TV (serial number) until either tomorrow or Friday. They said I've registered for the promotion therefore even if the count reaches 0 my bonus has been reserved. Yay.

          I didn't get the blu-ray player. I have a PS3. I'm not sure if that can play 3D.

  • Dont think you will be able to get the bonus as theres not much left

  • Hey guys, any insight as to how I can (should) sell or trade in my TV?
I got a 50" plasma, just today I was talking about upgrading it to 3D, would love to get this deal.

    • Do they sell for much in Ebay ?

      • I sold my 2 year old Panasonic 50" HD (not full HD) plasma on ebay exactly 1 year ago for like $850 which I was pretty happy with.

    • Any place that takes a trade in will give you less than fair value, just sell it on ebay, along with the bonus crap you don't want.

      • k, thanks.

  • what's the energy rating?

  • Thank you

  • Buying a plasma television set is like giving to a homeless person - it feels good at first, but the homeless person goes and spends the money on alcohol and eventually overdoses on heroin.

Our electricity prices are set to go up 60% in the next two years - Plasma TVs are terribly inefficient (which is why they are so cheap ATM, they are trying to get rid of stock) buy an LCD/LED screen, and always check the energy efficiency.

I hear your concern, however LCD will never come near plasma picture quality, just look at response times for instance. Consider also that for half of the year the extra heat produced by a plasma may ba appreciated for heating power that would have been used anyway. The new neo plasmas are incredibly efficient.

      • You obviously don't know TV's very well. Just because a plasma says 0.1ms respons and a LED may say 2ms. It's not actually a true comparison due to the differences in technologies.

Also, you obviously haven't seen enough LED's as my Samsung LED has the best picture out of any TV I have ever watched. Blu-ray is asbsolutely phenomonal on it. Far superior to any Plasma on the market.

So I should fork out $500+ extra now for a TV that will save me at most $100 a year in electricity… and is worse picture quality… and 60% increase in two years… not sure where your living mate but while prices are no doubt going up that seems extreme. Also you have no idea how many hours a day the TV is going to be used and I also doubt that plasma are so cheap atm solely based on energy efficiency.

    • I'd be concerned if I was a coach potato. The energy site shows the cost of running it 10hrs a day for 10 years as $1459. I watch anywhere between 3-10 hours a week and that includes gaming and movies. I think a Plasma will be okay for my usage.

It's appliances that have to be turned on like the fridge and pool pump that I care about being energy efficient.

  • Myer Indooroopilly priced matched the Pacific Fair Myer receipt. They did it it for $1500. They said because I priced matched I can't have the bonus vouchers ($25 for every $250 spent on Plasma or LCD promotion).

I bought $1300 of gift cards and put $70 cash towards the TV. So all up $1370. I made a mistake on my Samsung claim. I put the POS number and not the receipt number. Oops.

Did anyone price match at Myers and receive the bonus gift cards?

    • Care to post your receipt too? Thanks

    • we got the bonus gift cards, they arent gift cards but more like vouchers

and you can only use 2 per transaction and there is a huge list of things you cant use it on (sadly electronics and games is listed) but still, better than a kick in the groin

      • Thanks for that info. I thought they were proper gift cards. It doesn't sound like I missed out on much.

  • Anybody getting around $1500 in Sydney?
Binglee and JB won't go lower than $1630 (and this is my friends)

Look forward to a prompt reply
    Thanks

    • Which Sydney Stores have you asked? I know bing lee chatswood won't do $1500.

      • I checked most Myer's and non would go below $1800 and won't price match.
I have a friend in JB which gave me $1630 max!
I have a friend in Bing Lee which gave me $1610 max!

So I went and picked it up today. I'm liking it!
Applied for the promotion straight away and I'll be sending my receipt on monday… :D

      • A guy on Whirlpool price matched at the CBD Sydney Myer store. He had problems price matching becauase it's below cost. I believe he took my QLD receipt directly to the Manager and got it for $1500.

Perhaps Sydney people should ask for his receipt.

Looks like they added another 10,000 3D TV bonus packs.

Good news for those still to buy.

  • Any one has a receipt from Melbourne for a price match ??

  • Just picked up one from Myer Brisbane City for $1500 using Myer Indooroopilly receipt. I bought $1300 of Myer gift card and get 10% bonus to use for the payment of the TV. Total cost $1370. Sweet deal. Also bought a Samsung 3D Bluray with the same deal. The 10% bonus for Myer gift card has finished for general merchandise but you can still buy it for electronics stuff.

The picture on the plasma is awesome. I plugged my USB HDD in and play movie from Samsung media play function. No need for a seperate media player!
