even though you were a few seconds late, the + goes to you for your post being more descriptive

    • +1

yea, the mod barely put any details lol, but this will get unpublished anyway.

      • +9

Ozhunter appreciate the comments but really as a mod I dont need to look at the "glory" of posting. I like most others here enjoy the sharing of deals. As many here believe we have more "glory" in caning others LOL

And if I had my calculator out I would have spent a minute more coming up with the 9.09% so I would have been later

I have deleted mine as a duplicate

        • Not necessary in my opinion, I appreciate consistancy!

        • +1

Ah ok, but everyone is negging my first comment lol as they think the link I posted was the dupe since when they click it, it says that it was a duplicate.

But that's ok I'm not that sensitive :p

      • power to the people!

        • Appreciate the humour … but I'll have a shot back … (with humour as well)… Your Dreaming !!!

  • I was hoping David Jones could have similar offer as they are more flexible in price matches.

    • Can DJ price match gift cards? I prefer DJ as well.

      • +3

really? I've been able to price match at Myer, just not at city stores.

        • !rue that. Myer suburbia are hands down waaaaay better than the city store (Sydney) for price matching and negotiating!

        • Yeah, Myer Bondi has a 10ft sign on the window saying Myer price matches competitors. They should all do it, but the T&Cs state that they must be a 'recognised competitor' and excludes all online stores.

  • well looks like the other one was marked as dupe and this one stays.

  • Not sure why this deal was left and the first one deleted, I thought the duplicate was the one that was always deleted - thats why when I saw both deals I voted for the original and commented as I thought the duplicate would disappear.

Please be consistant with moderation, mods!

    • +9

I understand, but any poster can request a deletion of their post. So as an individual I requested the nearest mod to do this. We do have two hats to wear.

It really was probably a matter of seconds, and isdnman had uploaded an image which would have taken longer and did some maths so really they put a bit more effort in and personally I would like to encourage that.

      So we are consistent

      • Thanks for that.
        I really appreciate it.

  • Sorry, why is it not 10 percent discount then since 10% of 100 dollar is ten?

    • +5

Because you're actually paying $100 for $110 worth of value, not $90 for $100.

      • Ah.. lol.
        Thanks

So its not lost here is Kearnsy's comments about the deal with some of mine added as well

Kearnsy — Good deal in my book, combine it with other offers that are bound to happen in the next 2 years and you will have some good pricing i’d imagine!

Mine — Ipads and Apple gear (although not all stores sell them) so you get 10% off. You can also buy card and spend card right away.

And you'll get 10% off on post Xmas sales

Here is link to last years deal which may give further ideas

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/20433

    • next 2 years

I think you mean next 2 weeks.

      • I did mean 2 years…based on the gift cards expiry of 2 years. Of course buy the gift cards now, but either negotiate best price now or wait for the next sales event and spend them then to maximise savings

  • Do Myer price match iPads? In other words could you get them to price match Big W and then effectively get another 9% off by using these gift cards?

    • Yes they will price match as long as it's above their 'COST' price.

      • For the entry level, they priced match Apple 10% sale last Friday (I bought it for $578). So, I guess, they should have no problem to price match BigW price, which is $598? With this gift card (if it works), it'd be like $33 cheaper :)…

        • i hope some1 has a 10% of apple soon. so i can get a pricematch. :)

      • Was in city yesterday and they refused to price match (first reason was because it's Apple, then when I said that wasn't stated, they said, because there's too little margin on Apple so it's usually below their cost price).

        • Which city btw? Melbourne? Sydney? I went to Chadstone, they're nice, they accepted the price match 2x in the last 1 month, 1 the 10% off Macbook of DSE (I asked for MBA) and the iPad offer of Apple last Friday. I guess, it always depends on the person and item you want to get (might be the timing as well, if the bloke is in good mood :)).

      • Myer Garden City and City stores in WA both said they don't price match on Apple :(

    • Depends on which Myer you go to. Myer Sydney City refused to price match Big W for a DVD that I wanted because there is no Big W in the CBD. So make sure you go to a Myer that is near a Big W.

  • +2

I reckon the best uses for this are price matched big screen tv's, especially top of the line 3D ones, and apple products.

  • I have contacted Myer and they do not know about this offer nor is it on their website so before you get in the car and pack your shopping bags - Buyer beware this might not be a real deal

    • +2

That's probably normal, they are often last to know. It was in SMH full page ad, so if its not someone has stuffed things up bigtime, but it goes to December 15th so there's no great rush

Ad reference code BO/1.4483/MYER6431/SMH Ad which also shows Bonus Myer one credit deals from Thursday 2 Dec to Sunday 5th Dec

    • It's in the Myer One email that was sent out today so it should exist.

  • have u got the link to the SMH as my boss is wanting to buy these for staff

  • OK Myer has just contacted my boss and said yes this is a valid offer and as "ozpete" said above - they are often the last to know!!!

  • So are Myer staff ok for you to bring stuff to the counter, purchase a gift card and then use it for the stuff you want to buy?

    • just buy the giftcards and then take a walk around the shop and come back 2min later a pay if they make a noise

    • +1

Yep I did that last year with luggage at chadstone. The sales person behind the counter actually recommended it.

  • Do you get points buying these gift cards with your Myer one card?

    • why not :)

and even a bonus one credit before 5 dec

    • No I dont think you do. Last time they didn't ask to scan it and they saw I had one.

      • We got the points last time

    • +3

You get Myer one points when you actually spend the gift cards, not when you buy the gift cards.

  • OMG THANK U!!!!!

Now i can save another $150-200 off a 3d tv i wanted to buy :)

    • And its currently double shopping credits if you buy a tv :)Which on a $2500 Tv is $100 :)

      • -1

i just read the small print from my email

you dont receive any myer one credit points when buying with gift card!

        cheap Myer!

        • I say Booooooooo to them :(

        • of course you get the credits when spending the gift card though

        • So you would get shopping Credits if you brought the TV with the gift cards you just wouldn't get the points when buying the gift cards themselves right? makes perfect sense ;)

  • anone know if i can negotiate for a tv and then use my gift cards to pay? will the sales guy say no i can't pay with the gift cards becuase i negotiated?

    • no chance are they going to say that. so long as you paid thats all that counts. unlike their other promotions where you can couple othre offers. here you already have the giftcards. so in a way you can use the giftcards however you choose to. this offer has been designed to be given as gifts to others for christmas. How would they know anything when they go to shop? im almost a 100% certain u can use them. If ur still worried buy the gift cards earlier and then go bargain.

      • I'd get the gift card after you agree with the TV price, not only you can know how much you need (if you don't want to have too many excess), also you won't have to keep unwanted gift card in case you're not happy with the negotiation. I believe they have no ground to refuse gift card payments (gift card should be treated as cash, not other "discount").

  • Do they give you the bonus gift card right then and there or is posted out later ?

    • there and then methinks

  • Here's a question.. It says you can only use them for Myer gift cards. Could you then pay for Coles/Myer gift cards with your Myer gift cards? ;)

    • +2

You can not use a gift card to purchase another gift card.

      • +1

are you sure about this? i know you can do it at coles and woolies as i have always been able to combine my gift cards into one. i have even purchased a coles myer group card using a westfield gift card at kmart. It would be a good offer if you are allowed to purchase other gift cards with a myer gift card.?

        • It specifically states on the deal that it is for Myer giftcards only. I believe on the gift card cardboard packaging it says that they can't be used to purchase ColesMyer gift cards, from memory from buying one yesterday

    • It doesn't matter what it says "in the rules".

      It is actually possible.

The cash register will not stop it.

Just find a dumb enough employee to do it for you.

  • "
Bonus Shopping Credits apply to standard Shopping Credits only and do not apply to Myer Visa Card and Myer Card Shopping Credits or any other Bonus Shopping Credits offer. Bonus Shopping Credits will be allocated within 30 days from the end of the promotion. MYER one Shopping Credits are not earned on gift card purchases, lay-by and credit card payments.
    "

    just to clear the confusion

  • For all those unsure you definitely can negotiate as hard as you can (eg price match) and then when you're happy with the deal, go buy gift cards and get an extra 9.09% off effectively. That's what I did last Christmas with 2xTV/Fridge/washing machine/mattress etc. The largest card was $500 last year so I was swiping a stack of them at a time. No issues at all.

  • For those who has ING orange debit card, don't forget to use their cash back deal:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/35220

  • According to http://gifts.myer.com.au/terms-and-conditions.aspx?store=au#… you will get points when you buy the card and more points when you use the card - special offer for online buyers

Can anyone confirm that the additional free cards offer is the same online as in stores?

    • The way I read that you only get points when you buy the card online.

      • That's the way I read it as well, but I wanted to know if the free gift cards for 10% of the amount of gift cards purchased was also avaialble online, as I can't see anything on their website which says how much you get free for buying a gift card. I know in-store you get 10% free, but just wanted to make sure it was the same online, with the added benefit of getting points at purchase (online only)

        • That's interesting, but I have the same question about how many points you get for purchasing it online.

The information on the site is not clear enough to reach any definitive conclusion. Maybe ring them up?

  • Whilst it is "store policy" not to swap Myer Gift Cards for Coles Myer Gift Cards, the Myer cash register actually allow everyone to swap any Myer Gift Card for a COLES Myer Gift Card!

It works - I did it myself!

So, if you sweet talk a dumb employee into swapping cards for you, you can get a Coles card for free.

It is a business policy decision.

Not a technical limitation of Myer cash registers. Unlike Big W & Kmart ones, which automatically detect and prevent this.

Myer's IBM cash registers were made in 1990! Ancient!

    • "Myer’s IBM cash registers were made in 1990! Ancient!"

Actually, they upgraded all their registers about a month ago. No longer IBM, and quite possibly the above will no longer work.

      • Interesting.

        Thanks for that!

Will have to try it on the new Registers and see if they are smart enough to detect this.

  • I just checked with the Myer One helpline and you get points when you buy the gift card online, then when you redeem them you get points again (so double points if you use the card yourself), and you get the same bonus gift card offer as in-store so 10% of the size of gift card you buy back as a bonus gift card.

  • This offer ends Wednesday 15th Dec. Tomorrow's the last day!
