    thanks.

  • Not a deal. Always free both at Amazon and elsewhere. Belongs in freebies.

    • I've checked a few of the books and they appear to be paid books made to free. e.g. This one was $9.99. Thus per guidelines, it is a deal.

Thanks OP, is there a US link for these books?

  • Has anyone read much Dickens? I picked up Great expectations but I hear it can be a bit of a difficult read, is it a good starting point?

I read Great Expectations, Bleak House, Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, and David Copperfield. He's one of my all time favorite classic authors. Great Expectations is just little bit over 500 pages, depending on which publication your'e reading. And since this is an eBook, the page length might be different to an actual book, but it's worth reading.

This site gives a few hints on the best Dickens to start with.

A Christmas Carol for brevity and familiarity, or
A tale of two cities for brevity and enjoyability

Quora’a most popular perspective is David Copperfield.

It takes a little bit of getting used to, but, after about 50 pages you usually get the swing of reading older books. I really enjoyed most of treasure island (Stevenson) but found it very hard to appreciate the language at first.

      • Thank you, I will consider Christmas carol or A tale of two cities to start with.

I'm halfway through Crime and Punishment atm which I think was written around the same time, albeit Dostoevsky and Dickens came from different places and his text has been translated so maybe Dickens is easier?
