  • thanks, good work

  • I miss videoezy… where my kid and I can browse around and find some obscure cartoon (sticky cover and all) together…

  • Cheers mate. I watched Brawl In Cell Block 99 the other night which was pretty good.

  • Thanks OP! You my hero!

We've run out of stuff to watch on Netflix ,stan and foxtel.

  • Thanks for keeping us sane!

  • AMA request: People that use these kiosks;

    • +7

I'll answer a few questions in advance, feel free to AMA:

I use the kiosk to watch new-release-to-DVD movies. I have a Netflix and Stan service and a home Plex media server on which I capture free-to-air TV. None of these services get me new-to-DVD movies. I know how to watch/download these movies online for free but I don't care to go against copyright laws by doing so. It's not just the legal issue, but it's that I prefer to support the makers of the movie. I can and do pay to rent from iTunes, Google Play Movies, and other services at times. But by far the cheapest way to get these movies legitimately is AFAIK by using these Kiosks to rent movies for nothing using coupon codes. I have more than half a dozen credit cards so can rent that many movies for free each time a code is available. I have rented hundreds of movies using these free deals in kiosks in recent years. I've never paid for a rental through the kiosk, I always return my DVDs in time to avoid any late fees.

  • Do they still have the video ezy movie guarantee? Get it first time or get it free? The choice is ezy.

    • Yes

    • Only on certain movies for certain times.

  • Wouldn't $10 off be 5 discs on $2 Tuesday?

    • +1

      They limit per card.

      • +3

        Yep, 4 per card.

Not that I've tried to maximise the total number or anything.

  • Honestly thought this died out years ago with blockbuster and the likes

  • They should just let go.

  • does this work at the kiosk?

  • Your timing is impeccable!

  • Do any of the Canberra kiosks sometimes get animation releases on blu-ray? (The ones at Woden and Cooleman Court don't.)

    • Not sure but they have a pretty poor selection of Blu Rays and since Hoyts Kiosks have been bought out by VE you can't even reserve copies, they need to get into the 21st century! DVDs pffftt. Highly doubtful they'll be around in 2 years, they should go online digital.

      • Yeah the Hoyts kiosks had some nice features.

Regarding going all digital, I hope they don't. Blu-ray disc are fantastic with regards to image and sound quality.

  • I'm shocked that Video Ezy still exists

  • Visited 3 VE kioks this week, none had February new releases on Blu ray. I rented Bladerunner last month on blu-ray, its not on blu-ray anymore.

I just want the Hoyts kiosk to have the cheap Tuesday $2 deal and my 1st world problems will all be fixed :)

  • For knowing if you have used a code, is it just your CC that they match or phone number and e-mails as well..
