  • That price looks great.

    Nice. However:
"*8 The SnapBridge 360/170 app is not available yet. As soon it is available, links will be updated on this page."
This may suggest that the portion of the video where the couple are reviewing their underwater adventurers is somewhat hypothetical.

    Great unit tho…

Apps have been available for ages. Someone isn't updating their pages.

      • Or maybe, given that the couple were shown using it, not getting their information out. The video is Nikon's. They do have a decent forest of laurels to rest on tho

  • Could this be used as a dash cam?

No better than a GoPro, no loop record or power on/off with car.

Looks like this camera has quite a few issues.

    • The app has issues but the only real gripes with the camera itself are the field of view can't be narrowed and the barrel distortion can seem severe.
Personally I'm not impressed with the shaky connection of the accessories, but haven't seen any other complaints about this.

Take a look at the Amazon reviews. Issues include extremely quick battery discharge, lack of zoom features, smartphone connectivity errors and terrible software. Its great to see Nikon finally get in on this market and I'm sure they'll do much better with future iterations. For now, just pony up and buy a GoPro 5 Black. Its the best value action cam and there's plenty of deals out there.

        • For the money at this price it's a good camera, but yes the battery shelf discharge rate is very bad - I'm talking overnight. I wouldn't recommend it at full price compared to Hero 5 Black.

Another thing to note is the image stabilisation is not turned on by default.

          @spedwards:

The Bluetooth stays on full time which kills the battery. If it's an issue while travelling or whatever you can take the battery out and it's fine otherwise.

        • @mattman: I've tried putting into airplane mode and it still sucks the power somehow, I've given up playing to work it out for the moment and will just charge before use.

        • @spedwards: To me a bargain would be a quality product that is sold at a bargain price. If this device brings a lot of headaches, then why even bother? Time is precious so why waste it over frustration?

        • @JuliusSeizure: The frustrations aren't hard to deal with, for example simply removing the battery from the camera solves the discharge issue. Buying non-Nikon accessories solves the problem with the noisy mounts…

At the end of the day watching the kids running around with the camera and laughing their asses off filming dumb stuff and then doing the same watching it again and again is what it's about for me. They don't care if it's not a GoPro, so why would I pay twice the price?

For those already with this camera, official accessories seem to be on sale at Ted's too…

    • Thanks.
I have one and I find the camera is a bit loose and wobbly in the click-on accessories - anyone else had this issue?
I don't mean insecure, I mean shaky, it moves around. I'm very disappointed with the accessories - also the handy rod doesn't float the camera.

      • All the accessories we have at like this, except for the handlebar mount which is rock solid.

It just takes a 1/4" screw in mount do you can use any off-brand accessories which use this type of fixing.

        • Thanks for the reply.
Yes I have the the handlebar mount and it is sturdy. Both the handy pole and helmet strap mount are shaky. Sadly all the other accessories appear to be the clip mounts.
I'm surprised I haven't seen complaints about this in the reviews.

    • HN sells each of the accessories for $15 which are $25 in Ted's.

  • I love my Nikon's but this wasn't something they should have bothered with.

    • I would have expected from Nikon a GoPro killer because they make such great cameras in their other ranges.
