Drawing/writing tablet with pen included, available in blue or pink. Seems a decent price (cheapest I could find on AliExpress was US $3.50 shipped or eBay AU $4.50 shipped).

You can check the customer reviews tab on GearBest for pictures, videos and similar. Note that while the battery is included, it cannot be replaced, however comments indicate that it should last some some years as it's only used to clear the screen (the drawing remains on the screen without consuming any battery). More info thanks to Forenti, should be good for about 50,000 erase cycles.

Remember to untick shipping insurance at checkout. Ensure the total is US $2.99 before completing the order. Paying in USD = ~ AU $3.88 using today's VISA rates, otherwise you can pay in AUD on Rosegal site instead and it's AU $3.84. Edit 17/3: Figures updated, paying in AUD on Rosegal now appears better value.

Do I shake this up and down to clear the screen (if you don't get this… YOUR GENERATION SUCKS!)

    • +1

Combined with the blackberry logo of the OP, this is a double-shot of nostalgia, I have not choice but to order this.

    • guess i suck then…would you mind enlightening my generation? :)

      • +1

Depends on how old you are?

        • I'm over 18 if that's what you meant…is it an action you were referring to? one that rhymes with the rest of your username after "Kronic"? ;)

        • @homersyd: Was just some joke name I made up on the fly :) Ironically the only reason I like marijuana is because alot of my favourite rappers use it (I'm sure it helps them write). I can't stand the smell myself and it gives me insane headaches just catching a whiff of a user walking past…

It was actually a reference to:

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etch_A_Sketch

        • @homersyd:
          Just Google etch-a-sketch.
That what he was referring to for shaking.

        • @Karlos101: i see…I'm a gen Y so I've only used those magnetic drawing boards, where there was a long slider on the bottom that you use to erase the screen. Havent actually seen or play ed with those Etch A sketch thing before! lol

        • @homersyd: yeah, my daughter has a magnetic sketch board with a slider.
there are some impressive etch a sketch artworks around online. theyre friggin hard to use.

        • @Karlos101: yea i did find videos of an etch a sketch, does look very fiddly to draw on…lol

Is this like Snapchat for kids?

    • These days, most kids could probably use snapchat

      • My 6 year old knows how to…

        • +2

It’s all over man it’s all over

        • Your 6yr old prolly got girls on every zip code.

        • The next generation is doomed

I like how they had to specifically state in the title that it contains no radiation, I now feel better about gifting one of these to my nephew/niece.

    • You can safely rest it on your lap

    CHOPPER!

    • +3

      First thing I noticed too!

    • GET TO THE!?

    • I'll give you 100 berries if you catch him

  • What is this for exactly?

    • Replacement for a notepad and pen(cil), and they are fantastic.

      • +1

        Really? Is it thin?

        • +1

          Very thin, less than 5mm.

        • +1

@c0balt: Can they save notes? Or is it effectively a single sheet of paper + a pencil?

        • +1

          @idonotknowwhy:

A single sheet of paper and pencil, without an eraser, but can press a button to erase the whole page.

No save function, unless you want to take a photo with your phone.

    • Stick a magnet on the back (if it's feasible) and you've got yourself a handy digital memo pad for the fridge.

  • +7

Well, it won't be the dearest piece of plastic my kids play with for 30 seconds before tossing!

  • I was just thinking about how often I use the larger one and how useful it would be to have a few smaller ones on my desk. Will be picking up a few, thanks.

    • What do you use them for?

      • Same thing I would be using a notepad and pen for - usually making quick check lists of things to get done or things to remember to get other stuff done.

It's a lot faster to pick it up and handwrite something than it is to open a computer program or pull out your phone. It's also right there to see in your own handwriting on your desk rather than rely on a notification or manually opening up a notepad on the computer and checking a digital list.

        • I almost considered it but an only one sheet it wouldn't suit my use.

woohoo, a new cheap chinese website for me to sign up to

  • It's pretty small..

    • +4

      that's what she said

      • +1

It's the thickness which impresses her

        • +1

and how you use it. Not you, just in general.

Good point, the 8.5" is available at zapals at the moment for about $9.36 https://www.zapals.com/8-5-lcd-drawing-tablet-writing-board-…

Thanks for that link. I bought it as well after reading your comment and it arrived before the one in this post.
I use it several times per day at work and no longer have a pen+paper, planning to buy another one for home.
If i need to retain something I've written, I take a photo of it.

  • Got one. Thank you op

  • +1

FYI I saw on a video that it uses a non-replaceable CR2016 battery but it's rated for 50,000 erase cycles so should be all good.

    • +3

Pfft everything is replaceable with a good whack, just not sure it'll work after.

  • +3

I have one of this, Its not bright enough. I could barely see the text. Pic is misleading, may me pic was taken in dark room.

  • Not to be adverse to technology but this being roughly the size of a post-it note, smaller than your phone's screen in most cases, makes it… Well, you get post-it notes free from work right?

  • +1

I have one, looks absolutely identical, bought in a lot with other stuff from China for bargain price. Very small but rather a neat idea and works well. Contrast isn't the highest but OK. Only real issue is the pen securing system was an afterthought at best. Lucky Rosegal, nearly 3000 page impressions over a novelty item.

Getting Error, this promotion code has frequency of use restrictions. with code.

      Same here :(

    • Available again with code RGMINI7 (same price)

  • Got this but it came with no pen?

  • Huh? Why is this back on the front page? I ordered it weeks ago lol.
I ended up buying the larger one from another site. It's fantastic and I've stopped using pen/paper for my daily notes.
I bought this smaller one as well, but it hasn't arrived yet.

  • I'm still waiting for mine from the last order….it was sent 4 weeks after I ordered according to the email notification

  • Out of stock

    • Looks like blue is sold out, only pink is working now, will update thanks.

    • Blue is working again now (at this moment anyway).

  • Got mine. But the delete button doesn't seem to work..

    • same here. it just comes with smudges on the screen with no way to erase

      • I managed to fix the problem.

Use an exacto / precision knife and a plastic card to peel the black writing part off

I tested the battery and it read healthy. But check anyway while you're there.

The two gold pads on the back of my writing part weren't making good contact with the board, so I cleaned the board connectors and folded the gold pads a little to ensure a good contact.

        Stick back together
