    Why? This is a great product, but dealwise not a bargain. Who cares about a few pieces of silicon, and a throwaway can opener? They would have done better to reduce the price / free postage

    any idea how much postage is anyway?

    Actually FRED is indeed it's correct name. It stands for 'Field Ration Extraction Device'.

    But the other version of what FRED stands for is obviously more appealing to use.
