[PRICE ERROR] List as Many Items for Free & Only Pay $1 in Final Value Fees Per Item @ eBay

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Just saw this promo in my eBay seller account, I think there is some error somewhere as the expiry date is 31/12/2099 11:59:59 PM and the T&C's refers to the Super Sundays List for $1. So check your seller account just in case you have this offer.

I've accepted the deal anyway and will see if this will be "honoured" by eBay when I list and sell. Fingers crossed as I would love to pay $1 for FVF for the next 82 years… :)

Only posted this due to the start and finish date. Most likely targeted and probably an error but be in it to win it.

From my experience with eBay support, screenshot everything!

    • +4

      I CANNOT +1 this enough

I went to the stage where my ebay account could no longer even BUY items due to the dispute i had with eBay crediting seller fees that were never supposed to be billed. Apparently they could not find the promotion attached to the account at all!

MAKE SURE YOU SCREENSHOT THE OFFER IN YOUR ACCOUNT

      • And the acceptance after you click activate as well!

I was put back and forth with support.. first person wanted a screenshot of the email offer, second wanted a screenshot of my account, third then wanted a copy of the email offer, fourth wanted a screenshot of the acceptance, fifth then wanted a copy of the email once again. They kept on saying they couldn't see the offer in my account and how the offer was referring to another deal etc etc. I couldn't believe how bad it was… only stopped after I demanded an escalation to someone who had authority to actually do something.

OP, looks like link takes to the Sunday Listings' T&Cs?

    • +5

Yep the T&C's are for Super Sundays, but the offer in the seller account says 'starts 23.02.18' and ends '31.12.2099'.

      • +2
      • when you accept the offer the date changes to end of feb 2018 ………..

        • +5

Unless they have caught on and updated it, my account still shows expiry as 2099.

        • +1

          @Shads: Same here :)

        • +3

@headphonejack: Fingers crossed it doesn't get changed. Haha :)

        • @Shads: shh keep it secret.

        • +1

@georgev: It's pretty hard to keep it a secret now being on OZB… haha

      • Is this legally binding ?

eg can ebay weasel their way out of it ?

    • +1

Cheers, I've updated the post with the link. :)

    • Fully sick mate. Thanks!

I read rsvp and thought you were messing around and linking us to that dating website lol

    Time to sell my life

  • +1

Awesome. All good sites honour screw-ups, so I hope ebay show us they aren't demons.

  • +2

2099 for me too - screenshot taken ;)

    • Can you share your screenshot? :)

  • 2099 for me as well! screenshotted! Not sure if I want to list stuff for free though?!

    • +1

It should be referring to the fact that you don't pay listing fees - not that you need to list the item at a 'free' price.

    • Are you able to message me the screenshot, as I used this promo, and now it has disappeared, Thanks

  • 2099 lol.

  • What does ‘1 day only’ mean? You have to list everything on the day you accept the offer?

  • +1

Looks like they are extending the usual $1 Sunday’s to Saturday & Sunday

  • The intention was good, but the way it is worded and displayed on the screen can lead to confusion.

Basically, instead of go to the same page to accept the offer every Sunday, this one appears to basically enable $1 final value fee per item every Sunday. It is basically still for Sundays.

    • +1

Have just listed something and its clearly showing I have used "1" under this offer so it's not just Sundays. The original Sunday offer would only show up in your account every Sunday.

      • When does the promotion run?

The promotion runs from 00:00 (AEST) every Saturday to 23.59 (AEST) every Sunday, for as long as the promotion is offered by eBay and advertised on www.ebay.com.au and via email (“Promotion Period”). eBay reserves the right to cancel the promotion at any time.
Items must be listed and available for purchase by 23:59 (AEST) on Sunday in order to qualify for the promotion.

It's good that you can use it today, but I don't want to try my chances. I am a bit reluctant to list items on feeBay after two buyers recently did chargeback on the items (both were unauthorised transactions apparently). Not sure why so many people have their eBay and PayPal accounts hacked (though I am cynical about both of them).

Also, there was once where even though I listed an item on Sunday, feeBay still charged me the full final value fee. They did realise the mistake and rebated the fee (and they gave me a $10 voucher). Just want to point out that until you actually sold the item, you cannot be certain the fixed $1 FVF is applied.

        • Off topic, but just out of curiosity, what were the items (or kinds of items) you had chargebacks on?

I'm constantly paranoid about this and go to some extents to protect myself after it happened to me once (key for a game), but hasn't happened to me again on physical goods.

        • +1

@madpig83: Also digital goods, which PayPal won't cover (no seller protection on those). Quite annoying because I sold both of them below cost and the buyers initiating the chargebacks simply don't give a damn about the mess buyers need to go through. It's different to an item not received or item not as described dispute. You get different information from eBay support and Paypal support. Buyers made zero effort in returning the digital items and all the care about was get their money back.

There are buyer initiated chargebacks and Paypal initiated chargebacks (Paypal initiated ones are most likely due to credit card companies or banks requesting the chargebacks). Paypal even took the incorrect amount out of my account for the refund (overcharged me) and I had to call them to get the difference (and instead of admitting it was their fault, they refund the difference and called it a "goodwill gesture").

Don't sell digital goods or if you must, post the info through a postal service (but I reckon Paypal will still use the excuse that intangible goods are not covered). I see some listings asking buyer to take a photo and provide some proof they are the account owner. I doubt that will make much difference. They can still initiate a chargeback from their banks. Avoid posting items without tracking info also.

          @madpig83:

Never sell digital goods on ebay without stating you require an ID check from the buyer prior to releasing the code.

I learnt that recently through a chargeback.

I think I was going to get a second chargeback for a different item but scared them off by telling them that I was suspicious of them and would ban their xbox from online services like I did the last guy.

Chargebacks for 2 of 3 items is ridiculous.

          https://enforcement.xbox.com/en-US/home/howTo#sub-topic2-0

PS: EBay's feedback system STINKS. People that do chargebacks for digital goods do it habitually. I went through their history and messaged their previous sellers and found multiple cases of fraud. But because (IMHO) paypal doesn't do a good job of fraud detection, and because ebay doesn't allow buyers to receive negative feedback, you have thieves running around with 100% feedback scores!

        • @justtoreply:

Can you even leave negative feedback scored for dodgy buyers now? I remember the wife saying something along the lines of ebay not letting her

        • @justtoreply: It's not an XBox item. The XBox digital code I sold, the buyer was quite happy (left me a positive feedback) so hopefully no chargeback on that one - touch wood. Thanks for the info on reporting bad XBox users to Microsoft.

I still have doubts on ID check. In your case, the buyer could potentially lose more than the item he/she purchased so the buyer backed off. For my items, they are game accounts which the buyers do not care (they used up all in the game currencies, items). In both cases for me, the buyers made zero effort in returning the game accounts back to me.

eBay Feedback system - yeah, it is a big joke. Some Paypal support staff do not even know their policies (and gave me the wrong advice). Now that eBay and Paypal are separate companies, I see a lot of pushing around (Paypal asked me to contact feeBay, and feeBay in turn asked me to contact PayPal). As for why when a transaction was cancelled by Paypal (and eBay staff can see that), it was not cancelled in feeBay - their excuse was they are two separate companies. On both occasions, I had to chase up either Paypal (for overcharging my account for the refund) or feeBay (when a transaction is not cancelled in feeBay (only cancelled in Paypal), feeBay final value fee still applies). It's frustrating that there are so many dodgy buyers out there nowadays.

        • @aragornelessar:

          No, not for years

  • I am confused about which days to create the listing.
Should we create the listing this Sunday or Saturday only?

    • I've created some listings now and it appears in the list of items which should only be charged $1.

  • I accepted it, though I have no idea what I accepted. "One day between now and 2099"?

    One Day

    it will be epic…

  • Marked expired, looks like they have caught the error and canned it.
My offer is now showing under expired offers. :(

    • +1

A royal dick move by ebay.

Check the dates - mine doesn't even show up in expired offers. All reference to it has been annihilated. It was there before under active offers.

      • Same, it just disappeared.

        • Because it has been handled this way, ANYONE THAT HAS LISTED AN ITEM USING THIS OFFER - CANCEL IT!! YOU WILL GET CHARGED THE FULL ~10-11% FEE WHEN YOUR ITEM SELLS

Maybe update OP just in case.

        • @justtoreply:

          highly unlikely

        • @beatlebob:

It was you i was worried about :p

    • Hopefully, the old link will still work this Sunday. Otherwise, I am not listing on feeBay (there is still Paypal fee).

      • Do you still have the old link? To the Sunday offer?
I think that has now expired?

        • Guys, the old link (for this Sunday only) might still work:

          https://www.rsvp.ebay.com.au/rsvp/signup/5801

It is letting me accept the offer, but it has not shown up in my account as an accepted offer though.
Need to do this every week. It's not an issue for me as long as eBay keeps the offer active.

        • @netsurfer:
you accept it once and it will show up in your account every sunday for as long as ebay keeps it active

        • @netsurfer: Thanks, looks like I will be listing some stuff this Sunday.

  • Be aware of this condition that sows up in the T & C’s
“The promotion only applies to listings in one category. If you add an additional category to your listings, Insertion Fees (and other applicable fees) will apply for the additional category.“

So any second or more item sold in a different category to fist still attracts FULL insertion and final value fees

    • +1

My interpretation of this is that you can only list one category for each listing, but the different items you list can be in different categories.

e.g. I can list a mobile phone in the Mobile Phone category, and a car stereo in the Car Audio category, and they'll both be $1 fees.

BUT if I listed the car stereo in both the "Car Audio" and "Personal Audio" categories, then that listing will attract full fees.

If it meant that all your listings on Super Sunday had to be in the one category, that would be super dodge.. surely they can't be meaning that!! (then again with eBay you never know :-)

  • Can anyone message me the screen shot.
I saw the deal and used it, and now it has disappeared.
I was not smart enough to screen shot it,
I wasn't even smart enough to take a photo of the graffiti artists tagging the park bench last night!!!

  • Bigger! Didn't get the offer this week - looks like eBay have pulled it!

    • I've still gotten the $1 Sunday listing offer again mine today - hopefully it stays around!

Edit: Not the one in the OP, but the usual $1 one you activate each Sunday
