Hi all. Note this promo is strictly for the purpose of signing up new members only. Please don't risk having your account/s closed due to a breach in our terms. We now have many fraud detection tools in place, so opening multiple accounts for the purpose of gaming the system will no longer cut it. When you attempt to cash out, your acct will be flagged and payment blocked.

A great example is the recent Amaysim promo where unfortunately a number of 'new' members had their rewards declined and accounts blocked for this very reason. All we want for our members (as well as our many stores & merchants) is a fair and transparent playing field. These measures help ensure you all get the very best rates and service going forward. Please continue using Cashrewards comfortable in the knowledge that we're always looking out for you guys. Have a great day!

      • Pretty much if you try game the system (spam accounts) most will be flagged if you use the same ip address but a vpn can get pass that. I'm not sure if your fraud detection is smart enough to detect it.

        • +7

Trust me, IP address checks are VERY low down the list. There's so much smarts built into our new backend, it's actually quite mind blowing :)

        • +15

Username checks out - mind blowing backend.

        • +7

          @tightarse:
Interesting. I'm impressed with your anti - broden system.

        • Known VPN IP ranges are very easily flagged.

Furthermore, a VPN is a shared IP. Known VPS providers are probably also blocked, so DIY VPN will most likely result in some butt-hurt.

Thus VPN are a waste of cash for this promo.

Guys, don't just waste a signup. I wouldn't be surprised if most, if not all, 5000 signups were existing users that got banned, and thus cashrewards didn't actually have to pay out anything (Not CR's fault).

          Jebaited Guys!

        • @tightarse:

Hopefully the smarts are better than your automated workflow emails. I’m still scarred by the bombardment of emails.

If your smarts are so good, why does it take several months to get a payout?

        • +3

          @arcticmonkey:

If your smarts are so good, why does it take several months to get a payout?

It's not up to Cashrewards to decide the payout time. The affiliate networks and the stores themselves do. They often wait for the Paypal/return period to be over so people don't purchase, refund, purchase, refund, purchase refund etc. to abuse the system. Common for Chinese sellers to wait until their refund and warranty period is over for example.

Very smart if you ask me! You'll find that all other cashback providers worldwide are exactly the same with their payout times.

        • @VPNWasteOfCash: actually, I'm always on a known com range, and cash rewards has never had an issue with me.
I had to stop using some primitive services like Gumtree because of this though.

      • I made a new account, I've never had one but multiple people in my household already have had it before today. Will mine be shut down?

        • +1

Yes, most likely, as a possible cluster you might be temporarily blocked pending ID verification when you cashout. You'll probably have to send your drivers license in to confirm you are the new person on the account. Other accounts in your household might also be blocked as a result.

If you don't want to be put in this situation; I highly do not recommend you signup if you have someone in the household with a cashrewards account.

With the Amaysim promo, if anyone got blocked but was legit, you can offer to send your ID for verification to the upstream partner so they can take a look (For each person you signed up with). I'm not sure if cashrewards will do this, but many other affiliate partners will on your behalf if you provide the information.

      • Mate any chance you'll be adding Amazon.com.au in the near future, or increasing the cash rewards on eBay to anything above 1%??? I still reminisce about the days when eBay purchases returned 2.5%.

        • +2

Hi Trishool. We've been in negotiation talks for a while with Amazon AU and should have clearer direction from them in the coming weeks. The good old days of high rates for eBay may be over I'm afraid, at least in the foreseeable future. eBay dropped affiliate rates globally quite some time ago, and unless I'm mistaken, 1% is the highest cashback rate you'll find. Still, we live in hope and certainly won't rest on our laurels :)

        • +1

@tightarse: Looking forward to some CR for Amazon AU as their inventory is increasing I've found myself buying from there regularly. Hopefully though it's better than the CR limitations of Amazon US where it seems largely around clothing only. Keep up the great work TA!!

        • @tightarse: can I refer my wife from the same address?
We have split finance and I've recently shown her how to buy things online.
I'd be waiting for the referrer $5 + referee $5 again (Not this promo) anyway because $5 each is better for me than $10 just for her…

  • +1

Would they notice the same bank details on multiple accounts when u cash it out?

    • +1

Nothing a simple script couldn't handle or even an excel macros

      • Please don't put my bank details in buggy scripts and excel lol

    • +1

Having multiple accounts violates their terms of service so you could end up with nothing 😉

      • LOL yeah right. Just cash out

        • +1

          Minimum cashout is $10.01.

    • I can confirm they have measures to detect this, but pros should have more than 10 accounts easily.

  • -2

Use a VPN so your main account doesn't get closed.

  • +13

The spoil-it-for-everyone crew already here I see

  • So I just signed up. What even is this? I hear it mentioned a lot. I have $10 cash rewards, what does that mean. What should I spend it on?

    • +12

A PayPal transfer. I will pm my details.

      • +2

It says I can transfer amounts above $5 by bank transfer. So this is basically a free $10?

        • Yes. Once the cashback is approved you may withdraw to a bank account or PayPal. May take a few weeks to process.

Website has plenty of info on what they do and how the cashback works.

        • Mine says it can only transfer above $10.01. how come yours says it can transfer above $5? I'm puzzled.

        • @Kami828:

Logically to stop people just signing up an account, cashing out and never using it.

        • maybe I was looking at the American cash rewards

  • I've never used Cash Rewards before, do you lose any of your reward money to fees when transferring to PayPal?

    • +3

Don't think so. You can transfer to an Australian bank account.

  • -6

Only $10 not worth the effort.

    • +9

Please return your OzB membership on the way out.

  • +5

Since July 2017 it has never detected my any purchase. I chased up once and ended up spam auto generated emails. Even last week I purchased from Banggood but it doesn't show it in my history. I am going to waste my time again.

    • Do you use an ad-blocker?

      • No.

        • Did you actually find the store on CR and click through? Is your AV or any other add-ons blocking cookies or ads? Staying in the same browser window when purchasing and not clicking out including new tabs? Double dipping with another provider?

    • +7

      Username checks out

    • +3

Ive know about cash rewards ever since I discovered ozbargain but I never bothered signing up until last November because I figured it wouldn't be worth the effort. Holy batshit was I wrong. My account just hit the $300 mark. Use the Chrome extension and you shouldn't have any issues.

    • Had the same issue when I ordered from Banggood. Waited a few weeks, nothing showed. So I sent an enquiry email with the receipt and the transaction added to my account. From memory, it took 3 months for the credit to clear into my available balance

    • There may be and adblock filter on your router, unlikely but possible, such as a hosts blacklist in Advanced Tomato.

    • +1

I have had amazing service so far. Once I bought a ~$60 games with ~3% cashback and the notifier didn't work (so i didn't use cashrewards) so I contacted them because I wanted that $1.80. They replied with a generic, "we are looking into it." I forgot about it and 2 weeks later they apologise for the wait and immediately give me $10 as an apology.

  • +3

Never bothered to register, now is the perfect time

  • Thanks, just signed up! Is there an way to get the browser extension functionality on iOS?

    • No

      • Ok cheers

  • +1

I've signed up but can't see the $10 credit… When does it come through?

    • +2

Just signed up myself. $10 in your account instantly. You cant cash out as you need at least $10.01. Still theres $10 now sitting there for future purchases with retailers. See how it goes.

      • Darn can't see it in my balance ☹️ I signed up late last night…

  • the $10 didn't come up immediately. Do I have to do something or is the deal over?

  • What if someone on our household (who has never used CR) signs up to this?

Will CR's fraud detection be smart enough to handle this or will this get flagged as a false positive?

    • I don't see why that would be a problem assuming they're not sharing the same name, and bank/PayPal account as you. Would be illogical for any merchant to limit one account per address physical or IP. TA can confirm.

  • If I refer a friend with my referral link, will both of us receive 5$ in addition my friend who get the 10$?

    • +3

Protip: Always remember to use referral links for new signups. Except this time.

  • Been waiting exactly for a deal like this! Thanks ! Now I have Amex and CR all thanks to ozbargain :)

  • I just spend 1 dollars in eBay
how come i don't have the 0.01$ return in my account?
isn't that 1% return on ebay?

when i have 10.01 u can get the 10$ out, right?

  • so will this Work for adblock users?

worried this might not work ……

  • How long is the waiting period after making a purchase for it to show up on Cash Rewards?

    • Depends on store. Time taken is track anywhere from same day to couple of days. Usual is around 1-2 days.
If it hasn't tracked within 7 days, then it most likely won't. You then need to go into your 'my click history' and 'send an enquiry'.

      • Hmm wasn't tracked… cheers :-)

  • quidco
