So why does it specifically say "for iOS" or "for Android" ?
Would it not perform best if plugged into a PC or TV ?
By my understanding, it is because it has a built in microphone which means you could probably pick up calls. With that, the IOS picks up calls for the Apple consoles and android for the android phones. If there are no intentions to pick calls up/use the microphone on a mobile phone/gadget, I would assume it would be indifferent on a PC or TV.
iOS and Android 3.5mm port have different definitions so that the volume up / down buttons only work with one platform, not both.
Microphone will still work and the middle button (call pickup) should still work.
The inline controls on the cable (volume up/down and a multi function button) work differently between iOS and Android. Bose have this as well.
You can use answering phone. However, on the box mention “For android phone and tablet, or most other smartphone”. I think it’s because IPhone 7 or later no more 3.5mm plug on the phone.
Personally I would try these in store first as on ears are uncomfortable for many people. Depends on how they fit on your ears.
