Gaming Laptop GTX 1080 64GB RAM i7-7820HK

I know this may sound stupid or be the wrong place but has anyone seen some good deals on GTX 1080 laptops.

Preferably 4k.

Preferably 32gb RAM or more.

That's it pretty much.

I need a laptop asap. Otherwise I'll settle for a 1080ti desktop maybe.

This is a serious post.

Look at Metabox laptops. You can customize them to what you want. Great laptops.

They end up weighing half an elephant in the end

        Like all decent gaming laptops.

      • It's go hard or go home for me in this category.

  • If it's for games, get a 1080ti, whether you get a laptop or a desktop.

    • Can you please link me a 1080ti laptop or where you just joking..? The only faster mobile gpu I know of is GTX 1080's in sli and they are like 7.5k AUD.. starting to get pricey and not sure how stable or worth it sli are these days. I remember reading before there was some problems and even decreases in performance in some titles.. don't want none of that.

Aorus X7 DT v7: https://www.kongcomputers.com/product-detail/gamers/aorus-x7… (edit: there is a 4k version of this laptop too)

    • Yeah so far Aorus looks like the only way. Gonna check out metabox now though.

        • It's not too bad for a product from a legitimate retail store. But ebay seems to be where it's at unless I can find one in the wild on gumtree or Facebook.

This ideal barebones setup comes to around $4,152 AUD.

Not bad. But I can definitely save some moolah going via ebay or gumtree or Facebook marketplace way..

I wonder if they make 17.3" 120hz G Sync 4k Screens for laptops yet.. This one is 60hz only but maybe with an external gpu amplifier later I could crank it up with the later gens.

        • @AlienC:

There isn't a lot of supply for the Metabox laptops so prices tend to be pretty tight. Kong Computers and Affordable Laptops are 2 of the bigger resellers and there are some smaller ones as well. They might be cheaper or more flexible on pricing if you contact them.

You might be able to save more by buying from overseas (but factor in all costs including GST, shipping, etc). The barebones unit it made by Clevo and sold by a variety of brand names around the world (Sager in USA i think).

        • @Hellfire: yeah it's a good last resort but I think overseas ebay might come out cheaper even after import tax and shipping.

We shall see. I'm seeing at least minimum $500-700 AUD savings which is a lot. That's like a new flagship phone second hand

  • I bought one of these months ago. It does everything I have thrown at it PLUS it has mined over $500 worth of crypto when Im not using it… GTX 1070 though but for well under $1800…
