  Good deal but time schedule for flight from CC to Sydney is abit off. 6 AM is like wasting whole day and hotel to me.

  Seems like a good price. Those that have done both the North and south islands, did you have a preference? Did you stick mainly to the big cities or did you venture out into the country?

    Area around Queenstown is a highlight, a couple of things like Rotorua in the North Island are interesting. Cities are boring AF in my opinion. Auckland is like a smaller Sydney.

    Personally love the South Island much more. Ever changing epic landscapes when you drive from one city to another.

    Did a driving holiday from Christchurch, Fox Glacier, Queenstown, Te Anau, Mt. Cook then back to Christchurch.

    Fuel is a bit more expensive but you just gotta factor it in.

    North Island has great places to visit but driving between was rather boring, just felt like you were anywhere..

    South Island is possibly the best place on earth. Incredible particularly when all the roads are accessible (so not snowing) but still snow on mountain tops. A helicopter onto fox or Franz Josef glacier is probably one of the best experiences you can do in the world.

    If you only have a long weekend though, my pick is actually Bay of Islands on the North island, or a trip to Hobbiton/Rotarua/Lake Taupo/Hula falls (and maybe Hawkes Bay wine region if you extend it out)

    Just back from 3 weeks in South island and it wasn't close to enough

      Need 4 days minimum in Queenstown area imho (especially if you want to do Milford Sound)

        I did a campervan trip , i recommend it highly as NZ has really good Caravan Parks

  Analysing the Melbourne to Christchurch flights at $172, say you were buying some stuff before your trip, and it falls within TRS guidelines, then if the value of your items is $1892 or more, the TRS will basically cover your flight cost! Winning!

    I've always wondered, if I purchase something and do a TRS claim (e.g. on a weekend trip to NZ) is there anything to stop be returning the item for a refund (assuming the place I bought it allows change-of-mind returns)?

      Yes. The invoice is stamped with a massive "TRS claimed" stamp on it, so I'd hazard a guess that the store won't offer a refund in this instance.
