3.5" 4TB Hard Drive for Storage

My shitty Seagate is dying and keeps disappearing from Windows and I can't fix it via chkdsk or Seatools in DOS.

Looking for a replacement but staying away from Seagate.

It will be used as a storage drive as I have an SSD for OS.

Requirements:

  • 4TB +

  • 7200 RPM

  • Preferably Toshiba, although willing to consider HGST

Best price I've found for a Toshiba X300 4TB is via Amazon US, which works out at approx. AUD$160 shipped.

          I can pick up.

  • Kogan? With a $50 off $120+ Spend voucher bought for about $10 off ebay (so $40 off their list price)

    • They only carry Seagate though.

        Ah yeah

WD Blue is $169 @ MSY if you don't wanna wait

        • Thanks, I'll have a look.

          @Scab:

          Wait, no forget that

          WD RED 4TB - $179 @ MSY

          That's a good deal

Reds are normally more than a price premium than that!

  • It will be used as a storage drive

Make sure you have a backup of this. That's why I only ever buy drives in multiples (at least 2).

    • I do, use a portable 4TB for backup.

Luckily I did a backup recently so I haven't lost anything, have over 3TB of movies, game files, photos etc.

Would have been really pissed if I lost years of stuff.

Been using a PC since Windows 3.1 and I've never had a hard drive fail.
