what case do people recommend for a1/5x ??

    • +1

:) good day kiwijunglist, long time no see, did you miss me?

      • +3

my 2nd xiaomi phone from LITB is arriving this week for the wife. (64gb a1), I refunded my gearbest a1 order because it was sitting on pending for a month. You guys need to sell more drone gear.

        • +2

You didn’t answer the question. Did you miss MiniInTheBox?

        • @expertreader: we disclosed our love via PMs already.

    • Would just troll Aliexpress for a nice case

      • yeah I've got one of aliexpress in the mail, but wondered if someone had tried quite a few and had a stand out one.

    • I bought one of these from AliExpress and it's great - fits extremely well, doesn't protect the screen, but I wasn't interested in that anyway.

    • If you want a slimline hard case this is what I bought for $9 delivered. It's great.

  • +1

Wish express shipping was included or cheaper….

    • +3

actually LITB dispatch time and delivery speed is very well and with tracking,Don’t waste the money to use express shipping.

      • +3

My experience with them has been pretty good too. Placed my order for 2; The wait game begin …

      • Expect at least a 3 week wait.

      • +1

so far my track record with these guys has been less than 2 weeks.

        • +1

Phones take longer than other stuff due to having to go via PostNL (because of the battery).

        • yeah may be. I ordered Xiaomi ZMI battery pack. Came within 2 weeks.

      • My experience was horrible. No update for 10 days after I placed an order (expedited shipping), then asked them only to learn that they apparently haven't received the goods in their stock and it will take another week, then they will ship. Had to cancel altogether

        • Was it for this phone ?

      • +1

LITB delivery is turtle speed at best as mentioned below. Goes around the world before it gets to Australia. PostNL is not exactly direct.

  • Any idea how soon cash rewards would show LITB tracking? It shows in click history but not in transactions

    • i find its variable, sometimes the next day.

    • +1

Mean you have a transaction with LITB,but the cash back didn’t show on you CASH REWARD,it only show in click history?

If so,you need to make sure the transaction is complete with cash rewards link, and try to waiting few day, maybe was delay, hope can help you :(

    • transaction with LITB is showing as 'processing / Packaging'. This is after payment confirmation. It was done using link from cashrewards. Will wait till tomorrow or day after before raising it with cashrewards support.

  • Is expedited express via dhl? How long does it take to arrive in Aus?

    • -1

normally 1-2 weeks, some time is toll and some time is DHL

    • +2

i ordered a phone on 31 January with express delivery by DHL for extra $9
finally i canceled the order on 23 February because it was still processing

if you are expecting to receive something with express shipping - better to chose another online shop

      • this worries me…. lets see how my order is processed.

    • allow a month at least, even if they do ship expedited or you pay for express it often takes them almost a month to actually despatch the item.

  • how about repairs locally in australia, if i bought this phone and smashed the screen for example, how easily could i get it repaired quickly?

    • +1

i smashed the screen and did couple enquires to repair it - the price is about $100.
so i just ordered a new one for $130

    • -4

Is too cheap to worry for any warranty works.. but if u really worry about smash screen, is only about 20-50 to buy new screen and easy to replace only takes 2-5 mins to replace the screen

      • +2

you need completely disassemble all the phone, it is not a 5 mins work and it needs some skills and tools

        • No JK it is only 5mins works.. look at youtube… is really simple… is basically fool proof to stuff it up… i replace total of 4 a1 screen for my family member n friends

        • that's exact what i did at first…
…and decided to order a new one instead of waiting 2-4 weeks for a new screen, spend couple hours trying to replace it and finally place them both to the rubbish bin as it was with the last one

        • @rwt:
that must be a badluck..like i said is quite easy if u look the methods, but i recommend just replace the whole phone as this phone is quiet cheap

        • +1

          @echocae:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Imi6xIMiQU the video is about 20 mins and he knows what to do and have all tools. i believe all new xiaomis are the same - hard to do replacement.

      • -1

Reason I asked is I have a OnePlus 3t and the screen is smashed, they don't have any repair centres here, so I'm faced with sending my phone to a HK OnePlus repair centre, or , use one of the few repairers in Aus who probably have average quality unofficial parts and pay $300+ for the job.
I've attempted screen repairs on numerous phones, it's never a simple job, the repair kits you buy are very average and all in all its a very fiddly difficult job that you need all the tools for also.
I wouldn't consider a Xiaomi unless they have a definite dedicated 100% repair centre here in Australia. Same goes for OnePlus.

    • +1

its a $250 why worry about it?

  • Is this the official GLOBAL rom version? Xiaomi products tend to be varying when you get the non global model?

    • +5

The gets asked just about every time. The Mi A1 doesn't need a "global" rom as it's AndroidOne - pure Android with no Xiaomi Miui on top.

      • Thanks. I had some Global Redmi Note 4's and even though they were 'global' they didnt have AUS as a region. So default phone numbers and a bunch of other things were a bit annoying

  • +1

Just be mindful of how long LITB orders take to process, and then further to ship. A1 I purchased for a family member took almost a month and was shipped through Netherlands.

    • i have the same experience

  • What’s the best glass screen protector?
I’ve purchased 2 and both are 3-4mm from edges.
    Just too small.

    • I believes its becauses the edges of the screen is curved hence why the scren protectors don't reach all the way.

I went with the Motorola Moto G5s plus over this one. Found it for $298 and was delivered in 3 days. Very happy.

    • Known to have issues of battery failing to charge all together.. my Moto G5S Plus died totally and I have sent it back to Shopmonk - not sure they will repair or replace.

  • +5

I purchased the same phone on January 25th from these guys it was delivered to me 27th of February (Melbourne)

    • Yep, I purchased at the same time and it still hasn't made it to me!

  • I have the 32gb version of this phone and am very happy with it.

  • Rep, any deal on mi band or amazfit bip

  • For similar money why not the redmi 5 plus?

    • Assume because R5P isn't stock Android like this

    • Mi A1 has:
      4GB ram vs 3GB.
      AndroidOne
2 x optical zoom camera (via second lens)
      USB-C vs microUSB

although it is smaller and slightly lower res.

  • SHARP Z2 or pay $100 more for this?
    What do you suggest guys?

    • I would go for A1. You have Android one and your battery doesn't heat up like a volcano

      • Thanks mate for the suggestion.

  • +1

Two phones ordered yesterday have shipped. Good to see shipped within 24 hours advertisement being met. Surprisingly they have been shipped with DHL, I didn't select express shipping option. Big +1 for LITB on this !

    • Order delivered today via DHL.

Ordered 27/02 - delivered 9/03, that’s less than 2 weeks and bloody good IMO.

I thought I’ll leave this here as feedback for future deals.
