Best Bargain Prepaid Plans Currently?

International calls to the Philippines would be great, but if the price different is huge I wouldn't bother.

Was on the Freedom Plus plan on Telstra able to keep spending my recharge credit for Hearthstone packs, but that's ended a few months ago and I still cry every night longing for its warm embrace.

Been looking at Aldi mobile and Boost which both seem great. Kogan has awesome 365 day deals but a bit concerned about being on the Vodafone network as when I used Vodafone before, my general experience was bad (network inconsistency).

Any thoughts o recommendations?

It would help if you provided a price range or how much data your require.

    • That is true. Didn't really think about that one. Haha. I consume around 3GB comfortably per month. Price range, eh, whatever's cheapest that's >3GB/mth. Month to month or 365 plans, I don't really mind either.

  • If you don’t need the international calls.

    Coles mobile (uses Optus)
    $180 per year (365 days)
42 GB data (equates to 3.5 per month)

    • Yeah this looks amazing. Out of all that I've scoured in the Mobile section of ozbargain, this currently seems to be the best.

I might give it a go when my current month with Telstra expires.

How is the coverage for coles mobile?

      • Personally I regret leaving telstra for optus , often much slower out and about , I’m currently looking/waiting for best budget telstra deal

That is great to hear. That is my experience as well from two years ago trying to jump from Optus to Vodafone then finally settling on Telstra.

I'm not sure if that's the case still now, so thanks for confirming.

Boost and Aldi seem to be the budget options for the Telstra network.

    • Seems like a hassle to partner up with someone else with all the bank transfers and everything if you don't know someone personally. Otherwise, seems real good.

    • Hmm, would love to stick my 4 phones on this, however, voda is still a bit crap in Tassie isnt it?

      • Outside of the population centres, Vodafone's still pretty poor in Tassie. Optus is getting better now that there's equipment on a few NBN towers. Telstra by far the best if you travel around the state often.

  • Anything else besides kogan and coles? I want telstra network cheap.

    • If you want a cheap plan on the Telstra network, I would suggest Boost Mobile or Aldi.

$20 plan looks good with unlimited streaming for Apple Music.
