Is anyone aware of any ways to get discounts on Qantas flights?
For example Collingwood membership gives you 10% off Emirates fares, however cannot book Qantas flights.
Promo codes, partner programs etc…
There was a corporateleisure offers available but it looks to have closed on the 27/2 which was up to 10% off.
Qantas to usa using ff points sucks. When I looked a few months back for February, it was 96,000 ff points + $600 I think it was.
Ending up getting a fare through STA Travel (not a student anymore) for $799 on Fiji Airways, who I reckon are much better than Qantas anyway & still earned some Qantas ff points. Fiji Air have brand new long haul aircraft.
Have gone off using credit cards, as the cash economy seems to be booming. Have been doing some renovations to house & every traddie I've used has offered 10-20% discount for cash, no receipt. As house is principle place of residence, can claim any of the trades, so much better off paying cash. If traddie doesn't declare it, not my problem.
How on earth does govt know how big the cash economy is, when most of the cash, never gets banked ? Presume, people who have cash, only use it when they get a discount of some sort.
I agree - taxes on USA flights are ridiculous. Flying partner airlines to Asia in business class (e.g HK and Japan) are where you can get good value with your points
It's not the taxes, it's Qantas fuel surcharge, that no one else seems to charge.
Looked at using Qantas ff points to fly by Fiji Airlines & their cash charges were only about $200, but left it too late & available dates didn't suit. I could have stopped in Fiji on way home for a couple of days using points, but had to get back to work & not flexible.
If have any points left, next time I fly to USA, will look a long way out, like 10 or 11 months out & fly better airlines like Fiji Air, not Qantas.
why does it have to be Qantas ? There are many much better airlines than qantas, who rant on about how safe they are even though they have problems like all airlines, eg. landing in golf course in Bangkok, engine blew up near Singapore.
Qantas are just more expensive than most, doesn't make them better.

The Qantas cc card gives you I think 15% economy and 25% business discount if traveling 2-8 people once per year. I believe you can't buy the super discounted fairs though

Auspost also get discounts on Qantas flights too. Can't remember how much though. Pretty sure it is 10 or 15% of full fare flights
Book using frequent flyer miles instead of paying cash. Get the miles from good credit card signups. All you will have to pay is taxes.
