Yes it's expensive for a rice cooker. But, it's the best rice cooker I've ever used - a great appliance if you're serious about your rice. This is the fancy 'induction' cooking type with a really thick bowl inside. 5.5 Cup model. I've not seen Bing Lee selling these before and also never this cheap.

Edit: For some more information and reviews on this cooker, here is the US version of this model (note it has a couple of small differences, the AU version doesn't have the 'bread' setting: https://www.amazon.com/Tiger-JKT-S10U-K-Cooker-Stainless-5-5…

  • My Cuckoo died after good 20 years.. was in the market for a new one and was considering to try Tiger but will stick with Cuckoo.

    Thanks

  • Whats the difference between this model " KT-S10A" and the "KT-S18A"?

    • I believe the S18 is the bigger 10 cup model.

  • Does it also cook Congee? I see "Porridge" on the picture which I assume is the same thing but not sure.

    • Congee and Porridge means the same thing.

  • How fast can you cook the rice in this one?

    • Fast cook is like 20mins. Normal cooking is around 40mins. Fluffy rice :)

      • Hmm.. Im sure ive heard of faster rice cookers… The tiger im currently using also takes 20 mins

  • buy this or wait for a "pressure" tiger one?

    • wait for a "pressure" tiger one?

How long are we going to wait?

  • So you're seriously telling me that spending $400 on a rice cooker that takes 40mins to actually cook the rice, is a bargain??!?

  • This brand is the Dyson of rice cooker since the 70s used by many commercial kitchens

  • So how long would I expect to own this for without needing to change the bowl?

Assuming that I cook rice 5 days a week

The pan will last at least 5 years if you dont scratch the inner pan. Best way is NOT to wash your rice using the pan as this action tend to scratch the coating.

  • Bread, white beached bread in a $499 delonghi toaster is as rice as I need.
The rest I will wait for the family to eat the good grain with me and the eye of the tiger will be the thrill of the fight

Expensive rice cooker always attracts a massive debates here at ozbargin… lol
I looked at the Costco version and as soon as I saw the inner pot I put it down. No way I’m going to spend $300 for such thin layer of coating.

  • I could never imagine paying this much for a rice cooker. I feel like there is a limit to how good rice can possibly taste, and a $430 rice cooker seems like overkill to me.

but I hope whoever buys it is happy with it.
