    great deal

  • Is this prone to same issues as surface pro 4
I have one which has been sent back twice with issues like screen not working
Get refurbished ones back every time 7 months to go on warranty
    Not happy

    • I'm not saying getting refurbished is the best, but out of pure curiosity did the refurb's have issues with them that the originals didn't? For example, were the refurb ones cosmetically OK?

      • New one had a copper piece sticking out out of the screen
        Replacement ones are refurbished ones
One died another one heating up and screen didnt refresh stuck with image
        Been sent away
        Havent got it back yet
Going by past experience will take weeks
        Keep away

        • Just bought one and I am happy with it. I think the Surface Book is severely over-priced for what it is, however $1400 is a pretty good deal given the spec (esp. with 512GB SSD). No way I would have paid $3k+.

The only comparable 2-in-1s are the Dell (which I really like except for the port selection) and the Yoga (which I am not overly thrilled when it comes to warranty).
If I had a choice at the $1400 price point, I probably would have picked the Dell if the pen worked well for drawing.
Other than that, I think it's worth the price for the Surface in this deal.

  • I’m assuming 8GB RAM for both deals?

    • Yeah, looks that way.

Is it differ to this one on Kogan?
It's $1599 on Kogan for brand new.

So kogan is more expensive for the same thing…

      • These are new items vs refurbished.

        • No…

  • did anyone buy this? i bought one yesterday and received it today, everything is lovely except the pen. it doesnt turn on. i thought it was battery problem but does nothing even after changing the battery. please reply

    • what gpu does it have?

    • There's nothing to "turn on" with the pen. Just make sure you have firmly pressed the button when you are pairing (I had the problem where I didn't press hard enough to hear a 'click').

  • Does it come with NVIDIA gpu?

    • no it doesnt. :( and the processor is i5 6300 u , not 7200 u

      • Yeah thanks. I knew about the processor but I wasn't sure about the Nvidia GPU as there are 2 variants: one with and one without. I ordered the 256gb model anyway and it came with the Nvidia gtx 940mx GPU. But I don't think this will affect performance in anyway except very specific tasks since these aren't made for gaming. I don't think the 512gb model comes with the GPU though. I reckon if Microsoft made this more clear more people would have opted for the 256gb variant.

  • all gone now :(

  • Two Cores not FOUR, Returning my one because battery doesnt charge for tablet side

    • does it come with NVIDIA GPU?

      • The 256gb does and I'm pretty sure the 512gb doesn't.

        • if there was wouldnt there be setting in display? i cant find anything.

        • @avseqcfc:
My bad. I couldn't find the NVIDIA graphics setting but when I right clicked on a game and went to run with graphics processor I got to the setting and apparently it was enabled by default. Didn't have to download any drivers.
My surface book is i5 256 GB. Bought from this link.
