  • While this deal is quite good.. the rest of PC Byte's store has its price jacked up hard…

    GTX1060 - $609
    1080ti - $1799
    1TB 2.5" backup drive - $119

    dannnnnggggggg

    • I bought a GTX 1060 turbo for $400 like 2.5 weeks ago.

      • What does the turbo do? Higher clock rate?

        • To be honest I got it for it's looks but it does perform slightly differently than some of the other GTX1060s. It doesn't have the lowest/highest clock rate at base or boost levels. It was great for the price and I liked the look :) quick google search will show you heaps of benchmarking + gtx 1060 comparisons.

        • @dumbmillenial: ah ok np.. Yeah sometimes a little bit extra for the aesthetics is good.

        • @AlienC:

It was actually the cheapest 1060 I could find at the time so it was a double win for me - my preferred looks + price factor! I think it came to about $408 after shipping. Brand new! Happy days :D

        • What does the turbo do?

Turbo is the name name of the particular model. Third party Nvidia cards come with a variety of cooling and fan configurations that allow more or less default clocks and overclocking potential.

    • Got a 1080Ti for $980 a month back. Glad I bit the bullet then :)

    • Intel Six Core i7 8700k CPU 3.7GHz LGA1151 - List price: AU $772.00 ROFL WTF … "discounted to AU $598.00" but still nice for $478.40 though when most places have it for $518

Why buy the 950 when the 960 is out and only like 7% more expensive?

    • -1

because it's exactly the same except estimated life time is much longer.

      • -1

So it's not exactly the same…

        • Going off memory here but IIRC a recent PC Perspective podcast mentioned that their flash isn't suddenly miles better, it was just that they severely under-rated it previously and the new ratings are just more accurate given the data they've collected.

        • @kbw: Good enough for me. Few % extra for a new revision is always good enough for me.

  • With the 500GB couldn't I do the kogan method?
Buy a $50 off $120 voucher for $10 and create a new account to get $10 referral credit? Use shipster for free shipping and get it around $149?

    • yes you can

      • Mmm tempting deal…

        • +1

You can even do it with the 250GB and it would become much cheaper if you add a item that's worth only a few dollars…
          Edit: Same with the 1TB…

  • The 1TB 850 EVO is cheaper with 5% off code from Computer Alliance $350.55 Delivered

    • or the Sandisk 3D 1TB from amazon for $300.

  • 500gb is the same price at Centrecom

  • For reference, at MSY the 850 evo is only $4.80 more expensive @ 118 http://www.msy.com.au/waonline/hard-drive/14928-samsung-850-…

    • +1
