Can You Help Me to Check if This Makita Tool Is Genuine?

Price $120.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW-MAKITA-CORDLESS-BRUSHL…

Much cheaper than Bunnings. $199.

Others on eBay are above $130.

I wonder could this be fake one??

It's only $10 cheaper than the cheapest.

Seller seems to have a stack of positive feedback.

Why would you think it's fake?

I'd be much more suspicious if it was half the cheapest price.

    It will be genuine.

That seller has been around a very long time on ebay (14 years) and they have a really high feedback rating. The only negs they have are from idiots who didn't read the ad description properly.

I've purchased a couple of cordless tools from them in the past. The reason for the cheaper price is because the tools are sourced from overseas (grey import - 1 year warranty versus 3 year warranty for local stock) and are minus any of the fancy packaging.

The drill will come in a plastic shipping bag (packaged safely in a box of course). What you see in the picture in the ad is pretty much all you'll get. They'll also chuck in a few pieces of paper (user guide) and that's it.

Beats paying the inflated prices for the exact same product locally

    • So the only difference is the warrant. 1 year versus 3 years actually is quite different. Might look others that come wih 3yrs warranty but relatively cheaper. Thanks.

I've never had an issue with any tools, so in my opinion there's no point paying extra for something you're unlikely to need or use

        • yep, I've gotten 10 years plus from multiple cheapo drills (including an SCA homebrand one for $20).

don't throw them around and they will (should) last

          .

  • Just making sure you realise it is a drill skin only (ie. no battery or charger)

  • I’ve ordered Makita from them before. It will be genuine but they may also have taken it out of a larger kit and just send you the tool with manual in a generic box.

  • having $20 voucher from ebay to spend and the same dilemma.. Makita on ebay is cheaper and ebay seller (not this one) confirmed it's coming from a kit. Called Makita and thay said no warranty on any tools from ebay or Amazon or any other from non-Authorized sellers.
My experience is telling me that the tool will more likely do not break so I dont need that 3/5 years warranty but from the other side for a piece of mind… LOL..
My friend said his Makita battery died after 10 years(!) with almost daily usage

    • If you want to roll the dice just consider the $ cost you wear if it turns out to be a dud, could mean little or a lot to you depending on your situation.
Also how often do you need the tool if you have to replace it and are going to be without it, a tradie probably wouldn't go for the deal but would be suitable for a home DIY use.
