Id imagine it depends on your height, but yes this is a bike messenger bag so is supposed to sit on your back not your bum.
Yeah, it's a bike messenger only. According to the staff at Crumpler (World Square) they see a lot of people who buy online and then return the item to store for an exchange for this reason.
The Barney Rustle is a cycling sling bag, hence its 'short' strap length. The strip of fabric between the two velcro patches on the main bag is for you to fit your D lock, and the third click strap goes under your armpit to stop the bag from swinging as you cycle.
mine has a very long strap , easily can be sling lower than bum height and i’m 183 cm …… check how the straps are set up ,
i have a medium and a large.or check one out in the store with their staff …..

Just a cautionary note for those who haven't owned a Barney Rustle before, they have a very short shoulder strap. I like my satchels with a long strap so the bag sits at bum height and opens at waist height, the barney rustle sits at stomach and opens at chest, and as a consequence looks more like a handbag. My bag was liquidated on ebay soon after purchase.
