It's just saying you need to be a student or teacher to subscribe, albeit in higher language- you shouldn't be lying about this regardless.

And why don't these student magazine sites ever compare to the normal subscriber price? ($249.00 for New Scientist)
Normal student price is $210- they're not offering a student price next year thus the massive discount.
All subscriptions (eg magshop or subscribe) compare to 'cover price' not sure why- I guess the savings % looks higher and they're trying to get people to see the benefits of subscribing rather than buying it off the shelf which is expensive?
