One of the best RPG games now playable on Android. This game is in Beta testing (and has been for well over a year) and you should expect a few minor bugs in gameplay.

This game should be played on screen sizes 7 inches or bigger, so a tablet or laptop running Android is recommended.

Been on sale for a week now. Probably due to Dragonspear just being released for mobiles -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beamdog.si…

I am hoping that BG2 goes on sale soon!

If you got a laptop why wouldn't you play the full game?

    • Cause I enjoy playing games on Android. I still have Baldur's Gate CD version lying around somewhere!

Would this be unplayable/intolerable on an S8? I don't have an Android tablet.

    • +2

I tried to play BG on my old S6 and found it unusable… I've got an S8 now and I don't think there is enough screen real estate to make it workable TBH.

      • Ok thanks

Thanks for saving me some survey credits :)

    • If you a) already played the game a whole bunch and know what you're doing, and b) only play solo or pair parties, you can kinda sorta make it work. But honestly, why would you? Play it on a PC.

      • +2

Playing on a PC while on the bus is a bit on a pain

        • I'd be pretty impressed if you pulled that off though. You'd win points for dedication!

Fortnite full version will also be available soon on iOs & Android.

Only for iOS soon… it will take longer (6 months?) to get ported to Android.

Reasons being slower running code, slower hardware on-average (A53), more diverse hardware (resolution, screen size, RAM, speed), and more diverse software (Android 4.2 - 8.1) and OS skins. Not to mention the piracy aspect.

Fragmentation is a real issue that Google continues to avoid, and sweep under the rug. This is all coming from a faithful Android user.

      • Google Project treble, you obviously pay little attention to android updates.

        • No, I pay close attention… probably too close.
Project Treble isn't the be-all and save all solution people think it is. Android has a loooong way to go until its a uniform system like Windows 10, and even further for iOS like precision. The crux is that Google wants the advantages of owning an ecosystem without the responsibilities of a monopoly, and they do this under the guise of open-source and their Pixel devices.

Just imagine if all OS updates for all Android phones came from Google, it will mean, all Android phones had an OS tailored from Google. And that means they won't be allowed to ship with only Chrome Browser, Gmail email client, Google Maps navigation, YouTube video service, Google Assistant search, Google Pay, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Play Music subscription etc etc. Not to mention the Google Play Store.

They would be seen as holding a monopoly in the eyes of peers and nations, and tasked to make them optional… essentially giving up their current duopoly of services. And in Google's calculated view… the ecosystem domination they have is much more important than steering the Operating System.

  • Personally prefer the Neverwinter Nights engine more than Baldur's Gate. Eagerly awaiting their enhanced edition to be ported to Android would be awesome.

  • Love Baldur's gate. Had it for awhile now. Works great on my 8inch tablet.

    Using Huawei m3

    • Huawei m3 users unite.. though sometimes I wish we had something more stronger.. especially for rules of survival and etc.

Will try on my 6.3 inch Galaxy Note 8 tonight.

Game too small. Need an inbuilt scaler as for 16:9 resolution. Black bar on each side.

      • I was planning to get it for my Xperia XA Ultra but that only has a 6" screen. :-(
So not playable on a 6.3"?

I've seen some youtube videos where you can zoom in and out? Did you try that?

        • Yup tried zooming in. Still not playable. The UI doesn't even scale wider even when I toggled the full screen option via Samsung game launcher.

I think the it not the size of the screen that matters, it's the game inability to utilize the resolution of high end phones. Still in beta so I hoped they can implement a inbuilt scaler.

Thanks for taking one for the team. I've been umming and ahhhing about purchasing it all day.

Just a heads up that it is also on sale for iOS at $4.45

  • Ah the good old D&D pc mouse clicking days.

Its already a pain to play on 14" lcd/crt monitors those days, now on a 5-6" phone?
Its going to strain your eyes.

Tablet or google vr if that works maybe ok.

  • Will this work on Android tv?

I loved these games when they first came out. If I hadn't bought a switch last year I'd be all over this. Gaming on phones/tablets never held much appeal to me. Even less so now.
